Re: Implant cost!?!?!?
Seems like that varies by location. Mexico is a popular medical tourism location in the States, and Costa Rica is quite popular here in Canada. I have serious reservations about it myself, but when you are looking at $24k vs. $70k for a full mouth restoration with porcelain bridges, it's not hard to...

Re: What type of toothpaste do you use?
I use Biotene toothpaste because it's one of the only ones available here that has fluoride but no surfactants. Almost every other SLS-free toothpaste is pandering to anti-fluoride crazies. I really dislike regular toothpaste.

Re: Benefits of a waterpick
It won't change your treatment schedule or replace flossing in any way, but it sure feels great
Make sure you follow the instructions about holding it at 90 degrees to your gums. You don't want to be blasting water down there.

Re: Dental implant in place of extracted wisdom tooth

Re: Implant discoloration?
Unless it tastes/smells gross or is oozing pus, it's probably just white blood cells or other material from the gums healing, but certainly ask your dentist about it if you're worried.

Re: To get implants with bone grafts or not?
How many teeth are you missing on the bottom? Bone grafts are not as scary as they sound, it's extremely routine for any dentist doing implants. Any time you are implanting into an area where the bone wasn't preserved at the time of extraction it will probably need a graft. If you can afford implant...

Re: Implant cost!?!?!?
If you are really lucky, your dental insurance may cover whatever they would normally pay for the cost of the crown, or even the cost of an equivalent bridge for the implant itself. Small comfort when you are looking at $4500 per tooth, but I save $500 on the crown, which is nice.

Re: Full Upper Implants - Results
Not to mention, it must have been expensive as heck!
It is something like $35,000 for a full set of 8-10 implants and a fixed bridge up here in Canada. I'd sure want my teeth to feel right after that. Have you discussed this with your surgeon, Carol?
