countyblue, although the gap between my two front teeth wasn't as wide as yours, it has completely closed after 7 months of braces. I have the same situation as you. Lots of gaps everywhere. My ortho says I'll need double retainers when this is all done. Permanent one across my front teeth and the r...

You don't look bad at all. I tongue thrust as well and my face is more "f'd up", IMO. (don't expect me to post pics though—I hate my profile)

Have you talked to an ortho yet? You might have to wear a tongue crib.
Or you could go the speech therapist route.

Good luck.

twisted wire around brackets

My ortho put wires (one on each side) that he wrapped around a bracket, braided it, then wrapped around the next bracket. He did this around my premolars on each side of my upper arch. I was wondering what this is for? You can see it behind my regular wire in this pic: http://www.quoththeraven.ca/tw...

For Q.1 and 3, if you mean your teeth are flared out, which is what I have (top and bottom). After only 4 months, I've noticed changes to my face. My cheekbones are starting to be more defined. They weren't at all before. My bottom arch has been worked on these last few adjustments for closing the g...

Hands down, the worst part about getting braces was when the bands were fitted to my molars. I had to fight back the tears at one point. Everything else was smooth sailing.

Tongue-tied and tongue thrusting are two different things.

Her frenum attaching her tongue to the base of her mouth, goes out too far (maybe all the way to the tip?). Making her tongue restricted in its movements.
