Re: Regretting extractions, considering reversal

Extractions will ALWAYS change your facial appearance. How can it not? You are literally removing bone, but the muscle tone, volume and skin mass around the region remain the same. It is natural for your body to adapt to the sudden loss in bone mass. I suffered from the traditional extraction orthod...

Re: Invisalign G5 for Deep Bite

Have you considered lingual braces? I just started treatment for a deepbite (class 2 div2).I was given the option of getting lingual braces on the top..but I went with ceramic ones. Braces offer orthos far more control vs aligners. Deep bites are challenging to correct and it would be best if you gi...

Re: Undoing extraction orthodontics?

[quote="Quirky"][quote="audax719"] I'm currently in talks with a dentofacial orthopaedic/ orthodontic specialist in the Washington DC area. Consulting a periodontist too to see if I can reopen the extraction spaces and get 4 implants. It's costly and time consuming, but im 27, an...

Re: Bicuspid extraction experiences

I've started my treatment of re-opening extraction spaces. Here are the details: 4 bicuspids were extracted when I was 19, rubber bands and everything pulled back. Interestingly I had a deep bite with posterior open bite, so my molars could not have been brought forward to close the gap. Since teeth...

Re: has anyone had problems with their bite after implants?

Have you thought about replace your crowns? There might be height discrepancies w.r.t your neighboring teeth causing an improper bite.
Also, nightguards and invisalign tend to intrude teeth, which might be causing the bite to open.
See if wearing a hawley retainer might help you alleviate bruxism.

Re: Undoing extraction orthodontics?

I had the classic 4 on the floor treatment when I was 19. I had a overjet of upper incisors ( due to thumb sucking as a child) and retruded mandible. Also had a considerable posterior open bite. The correct treatment, in hindsight would have been to use a functional appliance to expand my upper pala...

Re: Reversing previous orthodontic treatment

I had 4 of my bicuspids extracted when I was 21 as well. They should have moved my lower jaw forward. So instead of having a class 2 division 1 bite it changed to class 2 division 2(which is worse). I'm 27 now, and I'm working with an orthodontist to reopen the spaces and get implants in. Both jaws ...

Re: Will tooth extraction ruin my face?

Do NOT get your healthy teeth removed - especially 4 bicuspid. You will regret it in the long run. I'm suffering from retruded lip/chin and shallow face after undergoing extraction orthodontics. Please do not get your teeth removed. They are in your mouth for a reason. If you are under 18 go see a f...
