Post-Op Bone Healing
I had my 3 piece lefort 1 almost 3 months ago, one more week will make it 3 months. For those that don't know, its basically separating the maxilla (upper) into 3 sections and screwing them into place. I've had 3 orthodontic adjustments so far, nothing too terrible. It took about 1.5-2 months post-o...

Re: Having 3-Piece Le Fort next week
Hi! I had a 3 piece lefort back in the beginning of June. Check out my threads from the June timeframe to read my entire story. In my experience, which could differ from anyone elses, I never had any pain, nor have I still almost 3 months post-op. I was given liquid oxycodone which I took the first ...

Re: Almost 3 mi the post bimaxsurgery surgery and scared
Also wanted to chime in. I had a 3 piece lefort 1 on the same day, June 8th of this year. I still have diminished sensation on the roof of my mouth, sometimes I wake up and feel like things are improving, but as the day goes by...I start to get tight in my upper lip under my nose and it just starts ...

Re: SARPE vs LeFort I
I had a 3-piece lefort back on 6/8/16. That was a Wednesday. By Sunday, I made the venture and drove around town to get out for a little bit. By a full week, I was able to get around and take care of myself. It wasn't horrible, but I certainly would not want to go through the process again. The nose...

Re: Pain Management
I had a 3 piece lefort, (maxillary advancement and widening.). I was given liquid oxycodone as well as 800 mg ibuprofen tablets. I had little to no pain, the only thing they gave me in the hospital overnight was regular Tylenol through my IV once because I had a headache from the compression wrap ov...

Re: Making ortho remove braces?
Your surgery turned out so good! Mine was two days before yours and I have to say that my orthodontist has his work cut out for him. Since mine was a 3 piece lefort, there's a lot of things he needs to move around, especially with my new bite. Some teeth need to tilt inward and some outward, for thi...

Re: Cant do it! Help !!
I'm 29 years old, had the surgery 6/8/16... I whined and cried all through the hospital... Once they put something in my IV to calm me down (where it makes you giggle uncontrollably for about 30 seconds)... I had zero cares in the world after that!
Just make it that far and you'll be golden!

Re: Splint Removal - Cause for Concern?
I just wasn't sure if my upper jaw should be a little more further forward than it is, post surgery. My orthodontist said I should be done by the end of this year. He said that he had another patient who had the 3 piece lefort done and he only had 3 months of post op work. I just wasn't expecting to...

Splint Removal - Cause for Concern?
I just had my splint removed on my upper jaw after a 3 piece lefort procedure back on June 8th. This would mark 5 weeks post-op, exactly. During the recovery process, it looked like my midline was spot on the entire time, however what concerned me was that it seemed like my upper jaw was moved too f...

Re: Infection worries 3rd day post-op
I was prescribed liquid oxycodone and 800mg ibuprofen tablets... I took the ibuprofen to help with swelling, but after 5 days, I started taking regular 200mg tablets as I really had no pain at all. It was all more about being uncomfortable. I would just make sure your daughter is truly in pain and n...

Re: Infection worries 3rd day post-op
I'm 4 weeks and 1 day post-op of a 3 piece lefort. I crested around day 4, after surgery. My surgery was on a Wednesday, so on Sunday is when I started to feel like I had a sense of worth again. You'd be surprised what another day or two will do. The first week is the absolute worst, it will get bet...

Re: Pain Control - PLEASE HELP
Agreed. Sounds like you've been doing a little bit of chewing which may be causing some pain. I personally have also been doing some minor chewing, but I wouldn't even call it chewing...just mashing it once before I swallow...like mac and cheese. It requires no chewing, but my bodily instinct is to ...

Re: Second surgery finished..Late to the party!
I'm nervous about mine! It was supposed to be next week, but my ortho is off all week due to the holiday, so it was bumped back another week. I know I have 2 brackets that popped off, but are still hanging on with the wire ties. He said that we'll take care of that at my appointment. My upper arch w...

Re: Splint out/new wire in...on my anniversary. Will I be too sore to eat that night?
You hit it on the nail about the comfort that the splint provides, knowing everything is being held in place where it should be. I think my main concern is that since I had a 3-piece lefort, my front 4 teeth are in a lower position than my other 2 side sections, which means that the new wire is goin...

Re: Splint out/new wire in...on my anniversary. Will I be too sore to eat that night?
Hi! I was reading through topics where someone got their splint out and wanted to see how everything is going since you are a few months past that. I recently had a 3 piece lefort done on my upper jaw. I was supposed to have my splint removed at 4 weeks, but my orthodontist is on vacation the entire...
