Hello!

I cannot obviously comment on your specific treatment, but I can tell you that I have the same configuration of elastics. Mine is also going from top outter to bottom inner to correct a crossbite on my left side. :)

My RPE was also placed prior to surgery. Nearly all the work from my surgery was done through the gumline and not at all from the underneath. Also, I think it's a good idea to get it early (I did also) so your mouth has time to adjust before adding the trauma of surgery (just my opinion though). The...

It's good to hear that speech returned so quickly to most of you! I wasn't so lucky, but then maybe it depends on the expander. My d's and k's didn't sound normal to me until the expander was removed, but with everything else, you adjust and it gets much easier. Try reading aloud to yourself for pra...

Waterpik is great!

I know exactly what you are talking about. I highly recommend getting a waterpik if you don't already have one. I had a palatal expander for what felt like forever. No matter how hard I tried I couldn't get the little brush to clean it very well. The waterpik on a lower setting can flush out things ...

I had a SARPE done in March 04. I realize I am an adult whereas your daughter is an adolescent, but I had similar effects with my expander. My back teeth were tipped a little outwards, too. Also, my surgeon had me turning 4x a day for only a week. I was worried about the number of turns and spoke wi...

Hello

My name is Melisa. I am 29 years old, a mother of 2 boys, and an Army wife. I have been in braces since Jan 2004. I had a SARPE done in March of '04. I used to come to this site often when my braces were first applied, but then I moved and sorta lost touch with things. My adjustments were put on hol...

I just looked at that. It looks really interesting. I had an expander in until just yesterday. (Yay!) I have always used the Waterpik to clean mine. But the benefit of the L'il Palates is that it's a lot more portable. ;) Might have been nice to have.

My orthodontist also gave me a Sonicare Elite in my goodie bag. I had used Sonicare in the past so I was thrilled! I have been in braces for 2 years and have received many compliments from my hygenist about the good condition of my teeth. :) I highly recommend it!
