Re: Metal braces without the colors?

I'd get the colors if I didn't look 12 without braces already . The colors just make it look even more youthful which is cool if you look your age but sadly I don't.

Metal braces without the colors?

I decided that if I am going to have braces, I'd prefer metal simply because of less worries about staining and everyone knowing right away that they are braces rather than wondering what's in my mouth. Unfortunately all the metal braces I seem to see have the colored elastics to hold the wire. I do...

Re: Turns out that I have crossbite and now I'm terrified.

Oh my. I thought okay braces, rubber bands, retainers...all the other stuff never even crossed my mind ugh. I heard some people get them for overbite and underbite too so I guess no matter what kind of bite you have, doesn't mean you are safe from the turbos. All the pictures I've seen for them is t...

Re: Turns out that I have crossbite and now I'm terrified.

So they were for the open bite? I don't have open bite as far as I can tell. I do have the crossbite, a crooked gap between front teeth and kind of crooked bottom teeth..it's like they tilt to one side kind of. I always thought my bottom teeth are "fine" and only my front teeth look bad bu...

Re: weird sayings/terminology regarding braces?

The ones that always make me laugh are when I hear americans say eye doctor or seeing eye dog instead of optician or guide dog. I thought seeing eye dog was a joke when I first heard it. You guys don't say eye doctor?! I think it's the same as dentist/orthodontist. We prefer using a simpler word an...

Re: Turns out that I have crossbite and now I'm terrified.

Do you have bite turbos because of the crossbite? Because those also look really bad. I think my crossbite is bad but I have seen things that looked worse to me being corrected easier than something that to me looked very minor. I'm just so upset that I have this :( . But then again could it be that...

Re: Turns out that I have crossbite and now I'm terrified.

I just saw how many mistakes are in my original post- ouch. But that's what happened when you type while being emotional. I just hope it was understood despite them. My crossbite does look bad now that I can see it. It's at least four teeth and they are back teeth. Compared to the examples I can fin...

Turns out that I have crossbite and now I'm terrified.

I was kind of thinking about getting braces for cosmetic reasons but rather reluctant because of retainers, pain, not being able to eat when I have not one pound to lose, my husband etc. Well, I spoke to my mother and it turns out that I have a crossbite. Which I honestly had no idea what that is bu...

Re: Beware "Holistic" Dentists

Yeah, I didn't go back there again. That just sounded stupid and like something akin to the whole Humorism spiel from back in the day. So I ran. She was a "holistic" dentist but witch dentist seems more fitting. 100% agree on the sugar but I think it is processed food also. I'm trying to h...

Re: Concerns about getting braces. Opinions?

Not out of line. My husband is a little weird I guess but so am I. That's why we fit. He did make a comment a while ago about someone whose wife wears a night guard or retainer or something and how he thought that was a turn off and he didn't think they would have much going on in bed. I do get his ...

Wow. I had no idea these even exist. Since I'm concern only about my two crooked/gappy front teeth I really need to check this option out. Is this only a UK thing?

Re: Beware "Holistic" Dentists

Thanks god for the fluoride free toothpaste. I am allergic/hypersensitive to fluoride so I need to brush with SOMETHING. I have NOT gotten more cavities since I stopped using it. Less if anything. Nutrition and keeping the teeth clean seem to play a bigger part than fluoride. Cultures that eat zero ...

Re: Concerns about getting braces. Opinions?

Wow. Thank you all for the great insights. My gap used to be so big, a whole other tooth would have fit in there. I don't remember having ever been to an orthodontist, it was a dentist who gave me the functional appliance to wear to reduce the gap. I have no idea if this is a thing or if he had any ...

Re: Concerns about getting braces. Opinions?

I appreciate where you are coming from Tyrantblade, but it's not as simple as "just get over it". I can't sit there for two hours with my mouth spread open without any type of sedative when I can hardly make it through a cleaning without. It's too long. How do people with TMJ manage? Consi...

Concerns about getting braces. Opinions?

I am in my mid 20's. Ever since my front teeth came in I had this crooked gap between them. I don't have any problems speaking or eating or whatsoever because of the gap, I simply find it unattractive particularity because it is crooked. For years I have thought about getting braces or invisalign bu...
