Re: How much help did you need after surgery?
I had my SARPE 4 weeks ago on Tuesday and had my husband take the rest of the week off because I was so unsure of what to expect. I was surprised that I was up and about very soon afterwards ( I definitely needed someone that first day). I had bleeding out of my nose and mouth immediately after surg...

Re: Summer 2016 Surgery Buds
I had my surgery 4 weeks ago, stopped turning 2 weeks ago with a 10mm gap made.
I measure every day in hopes it'll start to close, but nothing so far.
I'm finding it difficult to attend job interviews with this massive space and mild lisp.
No braces yet. I'm hoping for a miracle lol

Re: SARPE - Time between consultation and surgery
I'm dealing with all the extra fun right now since my surgery is tomorrow morning.
paid $750 for the procedure....
Then the hospital wants $27000 for the day-long stay (copay will be $1800)
Not to mention the anesthesiologist and everyone else that will send me bills after the fact.

ATIVAN
So my surgery is in the morning, and I mentioned to the doctor while getting my scripts that I was very anxious and he wrote me a script for Ativan (2mg Lorazepam) I took one about an hour ago and I'm feeling pretty chill and it's like being drunk without drinking a lot or being stupid. It's a nice ...

Re: SARPE - Time between consultation and surgery
[/quote]138 days?!?!? omfg...I'm going on a month now and I am getting so frustrated! I've checked in with the poor insurance coordinator every week, last update was the insurance company needed more information/records, that was almost two weeks ago. Argh. Sorry it took so long for you, thats crazy...

Husband Need Time Off?
So my surgery is next Tuesday, and I don't have any family or friends that can come help me. Now, I know everyone's different with the SARPE recovery, but my husband needs to know now what days to request off of work. How long do you think I'll "need" him for? Thanks!

Re: SARPE - Time between consultation and surgery
I went in for my official surgery consultation March 31. I waited for months to hear back from the insurance company to finally hear back in June that it was approved! Rubber spacer bands were scheduled to go in end of July (ortho is backed up because all of the kids are out for summer) and the impr...

Re: An Everything Case
Just got back from the ortho for impressions to make the expander. Looks like I'll be expanding 10mm/40 turns when I get the surgery in August. I've already got a space in between my front teeth, so this should be fun

Re: Summer 2016 Surgery Buds
No flying, it's only about an hour away (I'm in Florida). I guess the best course of action is to see how recovery goes.

Re: Summer 2016 Surgery Buds
Not on any other meds. At first I thought it was just blood pressure, so I looked it up and it matched up pretty well. I also didn't get it until I took the Vicodin. I'm hoping the pain relief will greatly outweigh any adverse reactions. Also, my family is planning a scalloping trip two weeks after ...

Re: Summer 2016 Surgery Buds
got my spacers last Wednesday and I still have some pain, but nothing like the first few days. Teeth are sensitive and I can't eat anything crunchy or hard. Spacers come out this Wednesday and the metal brackets for the expander go in. Expander goes in 8/10 and surgery is tentatively scheduled for t...

An Everything Case
Hi all, I am new to the whole dental thing, as i grew up without insurance. I just got married in November and have insurance. My first trip to the dentist was in January for a cleaning and I had no cavities and no decay! Bad news was, I need braces, which I was thrilled as I've always wanted them. ...
