Re: Please update for those undoing extractions (extraction reversal)
Hi Abro884 I too had 4 premolars extracted and I want them undone at least partially. The tongue cramping leading to head tilting creates such an ache in my posture. Who are you using to undo? abro884 wrote: > Hi guys, so FYI I moved to Australia last year and I swapped my treatment > to a Sydney o...

Re: Best way to clean a clear retainer - hints and tips please!
Keeping them soaked in water when not wearing keeps saliva and gunk from drying up and becoming hard to remove. I'm quite frugal so I made a cleaning spray with diluted liquid detergent and a splash of mouthwash for freshness. It's super quick to use and does not leave any weird taste. Denture table...

depressed about facial changes
I'm 26 months into braces now and hating the way I look. After extractions I lost a lot of lip tone, my midlines are totally off and it's throwing my face out of symmetry. Since I got braces for aesthetic purposes, this has made me very depressed. My face looks contorted to the side with thinner, as...

Re: The life with powerchains.
Once I had a super stained powerchain right before a hot date so I removed it myself, went on my date and got it replaced the next day at the ortho. They were really understanding about it, impressed that I could do that myself and we had a nice chat about how nerve wracking first dates are  I ...

Re: What would you do??
I would book more consultations and seek several professional opinions to help with this decision. If the x-rays and scans are recent enough (usually within 6 months) I think another ortho can use them. After having both Invisalign and braces, I recommend braces without a second thought. Originally ...

Re: Avoiding white patches (decalcification)
Hi there! I haven't been debraced yet so I'm not sure if I have calcification marks, but my dentist commends my oral hygiene. Hopefully I can be of some help. Routine: Brush with soft manual toothbrush and regular toothpaste. (Night only)- Floss. Quickly brush some more toothpaste around and use pik...

Re: Well, here we go.
There's a certain satisfaction in making the decision to get braces on your own terms. I was in the same boat and didn't want to be more of a social outcast in my younger years with a mouth full of metal. Now that I know the value of orthodontics, I'm really glad I went for treatment in my mid-twent...

Re: Switching ortho?
Yes! I had the same experience which surprised me when I started treatment. I thought I would be mainly interacting with the ortho but the techs do most of the work and this made me feel somewhat neglected as a patient. My ortho seems too busy to properly explain things or answer my questions. When ...

Advice for anyone whose face is looking gaunt, sunken, or hollow.
Just wanted to bump this comment that I found on metal mouth forum after looking for a solution to my gaunt and sunken cheeks from braces. I found it really helpful and hope it will help others who are depressed about their negative facial changes. Hi all I watched a series of videos from Dr John wh...

Re: I want them off!!
I didn't know anyone else with braces before. After I got braced, a few of my friends who had been hesitating to take the plunge ended up getting braces too! I feel good that I was able to inspire them. Now we have a little braces club and can share the pain haha :D There ya go thats the way to do ...

Re: Ceramic braces concerns
Claribeary I am so excited for you! Does your ortho offer self-ligating braces? They do not use ligatures and therefore you don't need to worry about staining (unless you get power chains. I've tried clear, pearl and grey. Grey resists staining the best) After 4 extractions, my face shape changed fo...

Re: Early brace removal?
I think you have the right to get them removed at any point of your treatment, but I would highly discourage you from doing so. If you can hold on until the end of your treatment, it will be so worth it. Ensuring that your teeth are aligned properly is important and I'm sure in several years you may...
