Re: too much xrays in a short period of time?
Your are entitled to a copy of your xrays as they are your health records (assuming you are in the US). You can request copies and then if another health professional insists on seeing xrays just give them the copy. From a medical/biological standpoint yes there is such thing as too many xrays, no y...

Re: Jaw partially locking randomly
Sounds like TMJ. Although there is no scientific evidence to show braces/rubber bands can cause TMJ, it can make symptoms worse as your bite realigns.

Re: Two Consults, Conflicting Opinions
My personal experience with multiple consults is that one said they must do extractions or else surgery aka no other option and the other said they had complex cases like mine and would start with no extractions, and then later down the road if it didn’t turn out well, they would opt for the extract...

12 months for my top and 4 months for my bottom. All depends on the severity of crowding!

You can post pics if you like others to let you know you’re not crazy (or that you are! Lol)
But if you don’t want to do that I would suggest consulting a second opinion in person.
Also check your contract you signed in the beginning to see your options for “unsatisfactory” work.

The marks disappear within a few days with normal brushing.

Re: Central incisor extrusion
"Safety" all depends if you have short or longer roots, which will only be discovered once you have an x-ray. Many people have had teeth extruded 3-5 mm (I was at the end of that range as my canine was pretty far up and not in the arch and came down beautifully) Definitely worth going to a...

Re: Bend/Dip in Archwire? What does it do? (step up/step down?)
The science behind bending a wire* is: when first manufacturing the wire, it takes on a memory of its shape as an arch (via heating to a very specific temperature) and then your ortho may bend the wire so it is no longer in the perfect arch. The bent wire will now work (apply forces to your teeth) t...

Re: Tooth getting more crooked with braces
It’s true they get often get worse before they get better, but one 8 week long stretch my teeth were looking wonky and like they were going in the wrong direction. I went to my scheduled appointment and my ortho was like whoops definitely didn’t mean to do that and lectured me on how yes it’s nice t...

Re: upper incisors not in bone
I think you might be confused. The tooth needs to be in the bone in order to "live": Take a SPAM at this diagram of normal tooth anatomy: http://www.levydentalservices.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/07/Normal-Tooth-Anatomy.jpg A tooth needs to be in the bone so that it may receive blood suppl...

Re: Orthodontic Treatment makes me very miserable! Please help make me feel better :(
Sorry to hear about your troubles. Yes one should be "thankful" that their parents could afford and choose to pay for braces to straighten teeth, but it is NOT okay that the results are causing you pain both emotionally and physically. Have you actually talked to your dentist about what is...

Re: Impacted tooth, transpalatal arch?
First off gaps are sometime just apart of the game (both before and after surgery). Yes they might feel like the end of the world, but you’ll get used to it and it’s only temporary! This is obviously something you should address with your doc for your specific case, but I think I can answer more gen...
