Build up on molars ... extremely painful
I had the pleasure of getting my bottom braces on yesterday and these past 24 hours have been EXCRUCIATING. I like to think I have a high pain tolerance but this is definitely a 10. I was unable to even floss last night because my teeth hurt so bad. They had to put this blue stuff on my banded molar...

I clench when I sleep and will wake up clenched.
I have one of those bite guards. Ask your ortho about them and see if they can help you out!

Re: Ceramic vs Metal braces
I am an adult who opted for the metal braces route.
Honestly, the whole "but people will know they're there" thing was my main concern but I've come to realize people don't care. They aren't bulky and too bothersome.
If you want to save the extta money, get metal!

Re: Braces at 22, Start of the Journey
It's been pretty good! I'm starting to notice tiny little differences like gaps opening and closing, teeth turning, etc.
The one thing I'm still unsure about is getting coloured ligs. So far I've just stuck to silver!

Re: Braces and Rubber Bands
That would depend entirely on your othodontist and treatment plan. They might give you a few weeks to adjust to the bottoms before they add in elastics.

Re: Braces soon, I hope!
Definitely look around for orthodontists in your community. While I'm sure your dentist has loads of knowledge, an orthodontist may have more specialkzed knowledge that would be beneficial to you. Good luck!

Re: WHEN will they move :(
The picture thing is a great idea.
Im four months in and just starting to notice changes.
I was comparing photos from when I first got them on to now and lots of things have moved and rotated. I wouldnt have known otherwise if it wasnt for the photos.

Braces at 22, Start of the Journey
Hi Everyone! I am currently 4 months in to my 1.5 to 2 year treatment. I figured since I get kicked off my parents insurance at 23, it would be a good idea to start now! My smile has always been a huge concern and insecurity for me. I knew that something was wrong with it when it always came out lop...
