Wearing a retainer for more then the recommended time.
My braces were taken off almost 2 weeks ago. I have a top and bottom fixed as well as a clear retainer. My orthodontist wants me to wear my clear retainer for 14 hours a day. My question is, would it be bad if I wore it for the majority of the day for the next little bit? Sometimes when I put it bac...

Re: Day 3 Post Surgery
Everything you are going through sounds completely normal for day 3! I was worrried about my bite after as well (my midline was off and my teeth never fit into the splint), but once I started wearing elastics everything has worked itself out. As for how you look, Its really hard to judge what you wi...

Re: Nerve Pain! Help!
I am happy to report that I purchased the vitamin b complex and it's been working wonders! I still have a bit of tingling, but I'm pretty much pain free now. Thanks for the advice!

Re: Feeling lost on braces and jaw surgery in Toronto
Hi Caitrm, Thanks for sharing! That doesn't seem that bad actually, was the cost the reason why you out to Ottawa for the surgery? Also did you have braces? I live just outside Ottawa, so my surgeon and orthodontist are there :-) I've had braces for a year now, and those cost about $7000. My insura...

Re: Feeling lost on braces and jaw surgery in Toronto
I'm in Ontario as well and just had my surgery in Ottawa. My out of pocket costs for the surgery were $600 and my dental insurance covered $250 of that.

Re: Nerve Pain! Help!
OH OK thanks. Its good to know that at the very least there is something that will dull the pain. Its a shame that so many medications have such undesirable side effects. What did you have surgery for? Was it an advancement or a reduction for an underbite? How did you get up the courage to go throu...

Re: Nerve Pain! Help!
I had jaw surgery on my lower jaw on March 17th. As for recovery everything is going great and I couldn't be happier with the results... but I'm in agony over the nerve pain in my chin. I know it's a good sign that I will get feeling back in the area, but I'm taking ibuprofen pretty much every 6 ho...

I casually mentioned it, but he gave me the impression that there wasn't much he could do for it. I didn't really press it though, and it also wasn't as bad then.snapdresser wrote:What did he say when you met with him on Friday? Or did you not bring up the pain?

Re: Staining of ligatures and powerchain ANNOYED
"I have smoke coloured ones and barely notice them. They don't stain either." Caitrm, do you have metal or ceramic brackets? I'm getting braced next week and trying to determine what color I should request for my ligatures to prevent staining. Sorry for the late reply! I just saw this. I ...
