Wow, this is an interesting topic! I've been very tired and low energy lately, and drinking alot more coffee (staining...that's another topic!) Anyway, I suppose it could be connected to braces, and the constant pressure on the teeth and the body constantly working. Now...can I use this as an excuse...

Hi There, I also had periodontal problems when I started. I had to have the same deep cleanings that mookyyzed had, but I did two sessions, one the ride side and one the left instead of top/bottom, and I chose to be numbed because some of the teeth were very sensitive. I was put on a drug called Per...

I love my sonicare toothbrush and since using it most of my periodontist says I am doing fabulous. They are really good at cleaning around the gum line and shrinking periodontal pockets if you have them. Also gets the pong out of braces really well.

Oh, you mean those metal jabby things that dig into your cheecks? I thought they were there as a torture mechanism.

Seriously, I think they are for rubber bands or something.

Hi! I also contemplated braces for a long time and went through the whole insurance, financial, vanity questions. I finally just did it. Took out a dental loan and did it. I have periodontal problems so I've had alot of dental work done this year, and when the braces are off I'll need a little more,...

Topic: Extractions...before or during braces?

I got braces put on first, and I'm having the extractions done in a few weeks. They just left the brackets off of the ones I need out. The reason they wanted the braces on first is because that way, if I still wanted to back out, I could, whereas if I had the teeth out first then I'd have no choice....

Newbie!

Hi All, Just got braces yesterday, ceramic on top, metal on the bottom. Clear ligs. The ceramics make me feel like I have a truck on my teeth, and I feel they make my teeth look yellow, or like there's gunk on them. Or maybe it's only been a day and I need to get used to them :) I'm on a long journe...
