Re: Jaw surgery fixed my sleep apnea!
I got mine for sleep apnea, as well. My airway went from 4 mm to 15 mm. Crazy! I definitely notice a difference in my breathing, though I haven't tested it out with exercise b/c I'm not cleared yet (11 weeks post-op). My septum ended up being shifted out of place during the surgery, but oddly enough...

Re: Fall/Early Winter 2016 Surgery Buddies
I can't believe it's been a month since I last posted here! The splint and all bands were removed on 12/23, which was not very much fun, but did allow me to talk more normally, keep my mouth cleaner, and enjoy some overcooked pasta over the holidays. I've been in orthodontic bands since 12/29. I fee...

Re: Actually Corrected Midline?
Hi Naderq, just wanted to check in and see if your crookedness has improved since your last post. My nose is still rather crooked, my lips are almost completely straight, and if I don't look too hard at myself in a mirror I don't notice the midline crookedness too much. I still have quite a bit of s...

Re: 8 weeks post lower BSSO forward still burning pain
Hi CandyApple, last year I had significant nerve trauma while having my wisdom teeth out. What you are describing is exactly what I was feeling. It took about 4 months or so for the icy cold feeling to start going away, but even a year later, if my bottom lip was touched, it sent little shocks strai...

Re: Fall/Early Winter 2016 Surgery Buddies
Hi Momo2015, congrats on completion of your surgery! Sounds like you are recovering really well! Just a little update on my progress....I will be 6 weeks post-op on 12/19. On 12/12, the surgeon put two looser bands on (one on each side) to allow me to open my mouth a bit. I still have the splint in,...

Re: 14 days post op and feelings of major depression...
Hi Kyng, just wanted to add some words of support. When I was 2 weeks post-op I felt the same exact way. Having to look at myself in the mirror was torture, I thought I looked hideous, and I was severely depressed. Your feelings are totally normal, and as others have said, at 2 weeks you still have ...

Re: Stitches!
I'm 27 days post-op and only some of my dissolving stitches have come out. I still have a fair amount. I hear ya about feeling pain once the numbness starts going away. I've been taking Advil to help with it (not bad enough for anything stronger). On the bright side, at least you've regained most of...

Re: Fall/Early Winter 2016 Surgery Buddies
Well, that was a lot of fun - I'm day 5 post op, and have finally been let home from the hospital. Not much pain to report, I stopped taking anything but ibuprofen on day 2, but the swelling isn't fun! The drooling was quite horrible too - for the first 3 days, any position other than lying on my b...

Re: Actually Corrected Midline?
I posted a very similar question a week or so ago when I was 2 weeks post-op--nose crooked to the left, midline off to the right by 2 mm, crooked smile. My surgeon adjusted my elastics (I still have the splint in and can't open my mouth at all) to try to pull my midline back to the center. It's help...

Re: 2 wks post op, surgeon has noticed multiple issues with asymmetry--is a revision in my future
Thank you both for your replies, and I am starting to come around to the idea of just fixing my nose and being happy with the rest of it. Hopefully once I'm unbanded and can start reaping the benefits of better breathing and a better bite I'll be happier with the results. This recovery has been a lo...

Here are some pictures. It was difficult to get a picture of the midline issue because I can't really smile yet, but you can definitely see the nose crookedness. If I can get a better picture of the midline I'll post it. Thanks for taking a look! http://i1376.photobucket.com/albums/ah39/Littlebird20...

Re: Fall/Early Winter 2016 Surgery Buddies
Hi All, thanks for the advice about unstuffing my nose. I'm happy to report that my right nostril is clear. The left, not so much. I posted a new thread about some concerns I have over asymmetry if anyone is interested. Basically surgeon has recommended a rhinoplasty or septoplasty to fix nose, my m...

2 wks post op, surgeon has noticed multiple issues with asymmetry--is a revision in my future
Hi All, sorry for the long post, but I'm very concerned about asymmetry in my face post-surgery (I had a Lefort I, BSSO, and genio two weeks ago). The first time I looked in a mirror afterwards I felt like things were off. My midline was off to the right, my previously straight nose was crooked to t...

Re: Fall/Early Winter 2016 Surgery Buddies
Hi All, I have had a really rough time recovering. After the one nose trumpet was removed, I was fine for a couple days, then when I saw the surgeon this past Thursday he noticed that my septum had deviated again, so he inserted TWO nose trumpets to keep it in place. It was traumatizing again. I had...

Re: Fall/Early Winter 2016 Surgery Buddies
Hey all, just joining the list of those having surgery Fall/Winter 2016. I am currently scheduled for MSDO surgery on 11/29 (already rescheduled once from 11/22). I already had SARPE surgery back in early June and went through two expanders for 17mm worth of expansion in the upper jaw. Now onwards ...
