Hey !
I've heard that bringing the chin forward through a genioplasty can give the illusion of the shorter midface. Is this something that you can confirm?

Re: Am I crazy for wanting this surgery for cosmetics?
Hey I'm another case of wanting surgery for cosmetic reasons. Although I definitely need an orthodontic treatment which is probably going to start in a few weeks, I'm not sure I'll qualify as an orthognathic surgery candidate. My midface length bothers me too ! Our stories seem quite similar, to be ...

Re: Can't wait to have my surgery!
I'm going to have my braces put probably in a few weeks. I don't really know if ortho surgery is going to be necessary in my case but if it happens to be that way, I would be very excited yet extremely impatient at the same time.
Good luck.
Good luck.

Re: Will jaw surgery improve a long philtrum?
As far as I know, you'd better have a lip lift to address your long philtrum issue. I can't see how jaw surgery would shorten the philtrum.
It also looked long to me in absolute terms, but hard to tell in a picture, hence the caveat. You can crack out a ruler and measure it from the base of the nose (side) :) Same for distance between pupil and base of nose (side).
Ok, here we go : Base of nose to top ...

Re: Shortening the midface on a non-gummy smile?
The distance between the end of your nose on the sides (ignoring the hook) and the top of your lip looks long to me, at least compared to the distance between the bottom of your lip and your chin. But if you don't have excessive incisor display at rest, an impaction could re...

Shortening the midface on a non-gummy smile?
Hi. As you can tell from my username, I consider my midface to be in the longer side. I'm soon going to get braces and a palate expander. While I am not certain if I have any significant bite problems and in fact neither do I have a gummy smile, excessive incisor show at rest nor do I have a long ph...
