Re: TENDER TOOTH

My central incisors have been fairly constantly tender/ a bit numb since bracing 2 months ago. Mentioned it to the orthodontist last week who wasn't at all surprised since they are permanently under a lot of activation and moving a lot! She thinks they will calm down a little in the next month or so...

Re: Fully braced

I am fairly sure that the more wonky your teeth the quicker the initial improvement - and mine have a long way to go!! I am waiting for the gap between my front incisor and canine to open up enough to allow my lateral incisor to pop back into alignment as it currently sticks out a lot...That gap has...

Fully braced

Finally got top and bottom brackets and wires. Now the fun begins...I was doing so well with the upper set - achy teeth but nothing major, tongue was FINE, little problem with eating, no lisp. Then I picked up a load of extra teaching and it all went a bit wrong - didn't appreciate quite how much mo...

Re: First day

Well...managed to get through first 5 days without too much pain. no drugs needed and no wax or anything required. Bit of a lisp when tired but managed to get through 8 hours of teaching and a few students commented that they couldn't tell any difference...Almost able to chew normally too. Still...o...

Re: First day

Thanks iob - I do feel a little like I have a piece of cheese wire in my mouth but I am sure I will get used to it. The teeth soreness is bearable so far - and its like muscle ache from exercise - a good pain because you know there are benefits! Shelleyt - I get the lower brackets on in 2 weeks time...

Re: First day

Wires going on the top today - bit nervous...Totally used to the brackets after a few weeks so hoping there will not be too much difference - apart from the pain of moving teeth of course...

Wish me luck!

Upper or lower - which is worse for speech?

Anyone who has had the upper and lower fitted at different times - did you find one was worse for speech than other? I have only got brackets on upper teeth at minute and have had no problems with speech, tongue or eating. Wondering if it is going to get a LOT worse when the bottom brackets go on (I...

Re: Random cleaning question

Thanks both. I get to share a bathroom at work with all the students so I reckon I will go for the easiest option and eat sensible food. I am lucky as I only go into the office a day or two a week so I can manage it. Sooo much easier when I am working at home the rest of the time!

Re: First day

When she rang the technical people they said it sometimes happens and to send them back. I think she was being super cautious but I think that is better than too gung-ho! At least its only going to be a few weeks. I am not really thinking about how long it will all take in total or when I will final...

First day

Well...I feel a bit of a cheat really. Despite having 2.5 hours in the chair I only have brackets on upper arch. No wires and nothing on lower arch. A problem with the glue meant that the lower arch has had to be sent back and I had to endure having the glue on the lowers polished off before we star...

Random cleaning question

Hi I am having WIN linguals fitted next week and on top of worrying about speech, pain and eating I am now thinking about how to clean them...I accept that I will be spending longer cleaning and caring for my teeth for the next 18 months - but what does everyone do during the day when you are at wor...

Re: Countdown 3 days to full Incognito top and bottom....

Hey I am getting my linguals (WIN - which I think is just a version of Incognito) next week. Very nervous about the pain, the speech and the eating. Reading through your posts has definitely helped so far though!! Still a bit of weight loss will be good and its not as if my job (as a teacher) requir...
