Re: Maxillary Impaction and Nasal changes
I did my 3 piece LeFort in December - medical reasons were to fix my crossbite and open posterior bite. My surgeon asked if there was anything else I wanted done, and I asked for him to move it up to lose a little gumminess on my smile. I didn't have much, so it was only impacted about 1.5mm. I aske...

Re: Ortho treatment at same time as child
I've had braces on for 4 years (coming off soon, thank goodness), and my 9yo got an expander last week with upper braces coming in about a month. I was the patient in the chair next to him when he got the expander put in :D What surgery are you having, a SARPE? I had upper jaw surgery in December, d...

Re: braces without surgery
Tell him right away during the consult. The treatment plan will depend on surgery or no surgery. I've got some things that will have to now be redone because we started the treatment planning for no surgery and at almost the very end I changed my mind.

Re: braces without surgery
Then I would just be up front in the consult with the ortho. Let them know surgery is not an option and ask what amount of correction they think they could achieve without it. Mine was able to get my teeth to look good from an aesthetic standpoint but not able to correct my crossbite or open bite, a...

Re: Stitches!
I went for my post-op around 10 days after my surgery and told the surgeon that I had a few stitches that were bothering me. He tried to pull a couple, some were not all the way dissolved and wouldn't come out. He trimmed those back for me and it feels SO much better. Maybe you could send if your OS...

Re: 3 days post op upper jaw surgery
I had my upper jaw surgery on Dec 12, a Monday. By the weekend I was OK with just two or three Advil (400 - 600mg ibuprofen total). Lots of ice, and give yourself another day or two. For the food ... I hear ya. I'd do anything for a cheeseburger and loaded nachos. I'm two weeks post-op today, not wi...

Re: braces without surgery
I had three orthodontists tell me I needed surgery when I was getting estimates for braces. I told them all no and asked what they could do. The ortho I went with showed me pictures of someone similar to me who also didn't have surgery and very honestly told me what he thought he could and could not...
Are you having your upper jaw expanded?
Yes, had my upper jaw widened to fix my cross bite, and the. Whatever it is they do to close by open posterior bite.

Re: Fall/Early Winter 2016 Surgery Buddies
Woo hoo, I'm done!!! :-P :-P still in the hospital (it's 8am where I live; surgery was at 1). The surgeon told my husband yesterday that it took a little shorter than expected, and I bled about half as much as usual I was escatic by this, since my number #1 feel of the whole surgery was throwing up....

Re: Fall/Early Winter 2016 Surgery Buddies
I have my surgery (2 piece Le Fort) on Monday. I have been told 6 weeks of a no chew diet, but I won't be wired shut. For you guys that have already done the surgery, what have been some of your favorite meals? I have a feeling ill get tired of mashed potatoes quickly ![Very Happy :D](./images/smilies/icon_biggrin.gif)

Re: Fall/Early Winter 2016 Surgery Buddies
I got the call today that my surgery (upper only) has been scheduled for Dec 12. Now I'm freaking out because that's 5 days before I normally would have had my daughter's birthday party, and only 14 days before I have to play Santa for my three kids (9, 6, and not quite 5) and attend a couple family...
