Re: Orthognathic surgery in Toronto
That sucks, JayDee123. Could you describe your complication in more detail? I'm going in for a first consult with Dr. Tocchio this month and I'm leaning towards him for my double jaw surgery due to positive online mentions. Have you found any answers online or otherwise, yet? Hope your condition wil...

Re: Maxillomandibular Advancement for sleep apnea in Toronto
Thanks. I'll likely end up getting it done with Dr. T, but I'm still going to get a consult with all 3 oral surgeons, I think. Wow, 90+ AHI is absolutely bonkers. Even though my AHI is only 30 and CPAP gets it down to below 5 AHI, I still feel pretty dead every day. I've had my bicuspids pulled when...

Re: Maxillomandibular Advancement for sleep apnea in Toronto
Actually, the cost of $4000 was back in 2011. The loonie's ballooned since then. And there shouldn't be a $1000 difference between surgeons, I don't think, so it's probably something like $5000 with Dr. Tocchio as well. In fact, a post back in 2015 at jawsurgeryforums mentioned it costing $5000 from...
Wantsleep... you mentioned cost just above $4000, is that after insurance?
Good question. That's before insurance, I'm sure. I remember asking both the director at Credit Valley Oral Surgery and the receptionist for Dr. Tocchio over the phone about the cost. IIR...

Getting jaw surgery despite weak joints (tendinosis)?
I am prone to tendinosis/chronic tendonitis and repetitive strain injuries. My tendons tend to injure a little easily and don't heal too properly so they're never 100%. For example, I used to lift weights but I had to stop because I'd developed tendinosis in both shoulders and knees. I used to run o...

Re: DEVASTATED - Just Told I Require Full Revision of Bi-Max Surgery
My absolute deepest condolences to you. Any updates on improvements function-wise? Breathing and TMJ? How is your apnea? Can you at least get restful sleep? You seem to still be recovering from the revision. Even if your jaws are still crooked, wouldn't some improvements emerge after waiting a while...

Re: Maxillomandibular Advancement for sleep apnea in Toronto
Thanks for the replies. So to answer my own question after a little more research, it seems like Dr. Claudio Tocchio has the most positive online mentions that I've seen so far with a lot of recommendations at jawsurgeryforums and from blogs I've pulled while googling, followed by Dr. Caminiti at Cr...

Also how did you choose your oral surgeon? Thanks! Can't wait for more updates.

Re: Week 2 Post-op double jaw surgery(my experience so far)
Good post, I'm so happy for you! I'm a year older than you and I'm only at the beginning to get braces stage. After 2 years, CPAP still rarely provides me much restful sleep despite keeping my AHI down. And even if it were successful, I'd think twice about being chained my whole life to a clumsy wor...

Maxillomandibular Advancement for sleep apnea in Toronto
Hi, first time posting here. Are there any recommendations for good oral surgeons for MMA for sleep apnea in the Toronto/GTA or Southern Ontario area. I'm in Mississauga. There doesn't seem to be too many orthognathic surgeons in the area, let alone ones who specialize in sleep apnea. If you've gott...
