Tooth pain from popped wire?
Today my arch wire popped out of my bottom back molar bracket (Damon braces). The wire is the final stiff wire so I’m afraid that if I try to pop it back into the tunnel it may break off brackets since it’s not flexible at all. I’m not overly concerned as I have an ortho appointment on Wednesday. Bu...

Re: Anyone else bracefree this summer?
I go for x-rays in two weeks, if my roots look good my ortho said my braces will be off next month! I thought they’d be on until at least August.

Re: Super painful wire changes with Damon-type brackets
I wear Damon braces and know exactly how you feel.
The pain is the worst when they’re closing the gates over super active teeth, especially at the beginning. The less my teeth are moving, the less painful the gate opening and closing process seems to be. Good luck!

Re: Total Frustration
Oh no, that sounds very frustrating! I tried to get Damon clear put on my teeth, but my ortho talked me into the metal because he said the ceramic weren’t as strong and would only prolong my treatment time. I was however able to get my braces taken off for three weeks for my wedding (He took the top...

The end is in sight! (Hopefully)
I went in for a wire change today, and my ortho said that after this wire we have only one more. He told me that my bite is almost as perfect as we’re going to get it and that he only was to adjust my molars to make a slightly more broad smile. I’m also done using my class II elastics (yay!) So hope...

Re: Bottom braces and overbite
I feel your pain! I had a bad over bite and over jet at the beginning of my treatment as well. My ortho started me with top and bottom brackets as well as 24/7 class II elastics all at once. I had bite blocks for the first 8 weeks or so. I survived off of smoothies, scrambled eggs, oatmeal, and past...

Re: Your jail sentence
Estimated was 18 months, but I had them taken off for 3 weeks at the 6 month mark for my wedding in Mexico. My orthodontist estimated and extra 3 months tacked on for the 3 weeks out of braces.

Re: Anyone skip recommended surgery?
I have an over bite and an over jet; my ortho suggested lower jaw surgery for a "perfect" bite. But he also said that if I choose not to do surgery that he could still fix it as much as possible and camouflage what can't be fixed without surgery. In the end I opted not to go through with s...

$6500 in western Canada. Damon metal. Insurance is paying $2500 so the rest is out of pocket.

Re: Doubling up on elastics
Thanks!! I realize now that the soreness is gone, I may have been a bit dramatic! hahaJCloNY wrote:Congrats on you seeing progress! Sorry about the double elastics though. The pain will soon wane and you will not know what life is like without them.

Doubling up on elastics
I had my first adjustment yesterday; I got a slightly thicker wire put in and I now have to double up on my class II elastics. Before I barely noticed the elastics but now the pressure and soreness is very annoying. On my next appointment my ortho said that he'll be switching to smaller elastics :Fe...

Re: Poll: Braces as an Adult versus Adolescent
I would've much more preferred braces as a teen. It was never an issue of self esteem or potential bullying, I had no issue with either, but we just couldn't afford it growing up.
