Hi there, I had a large gap between my two front teeth and was terrified of it coming back, when my brace came off my Ortho put a small bonded retainer behind them to stop them going anywhere! I also have a clear retainer that I wear at night to stop the others from moving.

I'm due to have my top brace removed in a months time and my ortho has said im going to have the same retainer as you have got, can you tell me what its like to get on with i.e. talking etc..

Question for those people with retainers - if you have a permanent bonded retainer behind the top teeth why do you still have to wear a removeable retainer as well?

I have already told my ortho I am going to go for a permanent retainer as I also have to do a lot of talking in my profession and a removeable retainer just wouldnt do. I can totally sympathise with you here, I have very small teeth all round and everyone tells me!! I also show way too much gum at the top when I smile so am defo considering having the gum surgery, I'm also considering porcelain veneers when I can afford it one day or win the lottery!!
