Re: Appointments
My appointments are usually 6-8 weeks out and I have regular ceramic braces. At first I thought that would cause my teeth to shift slowly but in the few months I've had them they have actually shifted quite a bit.

What does this dip in my wire mean?
I recently had my wires changed and the wire along my top arch has a dip in it. Do you all know what this does/means? This is not my photo, but this is what the wire looks like.

Re: What's your favourite elastic colours?
I've only tried clear, light pink and a periwinkle shade. The periwinkle makes my teeth look yellow but I like the color. The other shades my ortho has are sorta dark and out there so I'm not sure if I will try any other shades lol

Re: How long before you noticed results?
1. 2 years
2. Ceramic brackets
3. About 2 weeks in, but after a few months it slowed down. I now have extractions and go back in later this month so hopefully the real changes will start to happen

Re: Whats your story?
I had a thumbsucking habit as a child and my parents couldn't afford braces. SO, here I am at 29 with braces fixing an open bite and mild/moderate crowding.

You're my braces twin! I sucked my thumb for a long time too! I have ceramic top and bottoms and am fixing an open bite and moderate crowding. I'm 28. I was told I may need extractions but they hasn't happened yet. I wonder how quickly you'll see changes once those teeth are removed! I've pos...

Re: How long has everyone had their braces?
3.5 months. I get extractions in 2 weeks so hopefully things will go faster now that I have more space in my mouth. Projected time in braces is 2 years

Well, after 3 months, it's time for extractions! I'm nervous!
I've had my braces since February and today I went in expecting a wire change, but found out it's time to get my pre-molars extracted. I'm excited and nervous at the same time. Things have been going pretty slowly and I've read that once you get your extractions, you will notice changes pretty quick...

Wow, she is such a scam artist! Making you pay extra for work she didn't do.
Yes, please get a second opinion and tell them everything you told us. Maybe they could offer you a discount once they realized how much you have put into this

Paresthesia a few months after wisdom tooth surgery
I had all 4 wisdom teeth surgically removed in December. I was told that some of them were near the nerve so I may have possible numbness, etc. After my surgery when the swelling went down I did notice some tingling on the left side near my jaw, but only when the area was pressed, like when I would ...

No, he didn't. But I found out about something called Elmex Gelee on another forum and I use that 3x a week. You're only supposed to use it 1x but since I have braces and have had cavity issues int he past so I want to be extra safe

Re: 12 days with braces. Only one really sore tooth
It's normal and it will go away. Your tooth feels loose because it tecnically is, they're moving into place. This is a feeling you should get used to it and it's a good feeling. That's the magic of braces! Also, those teeth that hurt probably have a lot of pressure on them so they're sore. As the wi...

Re: Reccommended type of braces? and Colour?
I'm also African with clear braces. A few things, I've read clear braces work more slowly so it may add time to your treatment plan. They're also supposedly more difficult to remove from your teeth. Keep those things in mind before committing. They were the same price as metal braces for me. I have...
