Re: Little help please *
Update: So it has been a while. Not much progress on my front. My tooth has changed color since the root canal therapy. I think I will be particular for a crown at some point. I need another consult with the new orthodontist. I want clarity as to which is a better process, crown, then braces or brac...

Re: Little help please *
Been a long time since I've stopped in here, good to see you're still making progress toward getting your teeth fixed. The "heal your cavities naturally" stuff is typically based on both a gross oversimplification of tooth anatomy, and misrepresenting new dentin formed in a pulp chamber i...

Re: Little help please *
Update! So, I placed myself on an appointment for cancelations. The long weekend is coming. Summer is almost over so, it was super busy. I got the call the other day and came in yesterday. I white knuckled it all the way to the appointment. I signed the wager. I was given a rough estimate without in...

Re: Little help please *
Hi - Your receding gum line may be caused by your over brushing (which you have identified as the possible cause of your bleeding gums). If you have a regular dentist, have you consulted them on whether your teeth and gums are healthy enough for braces? ****************************************** Th...

Re: Little help please *
Update: My jaw is still a bit sore. Not so much today. The combo of the antibiotics plus the ibuprofen has definitely made a difference. I have a root canal coming up. I will follow up with both my dentist and the orthodontist on the timeline from then on. I am hoping I don't need a crown but, it wo...

Re: Little help please *
Congrats on meeting the girl! I think in general women are looking for more than just good looks and the perfect smile (thankfully for me :D ). Ask your ortho about anything in the contract that you don't understand. She may refer you to the business office. I'm not sure about the receding gums iss...

Re: Little help please *
Update: So, the antibiotics are taking. I have slightly mild discomfort. Some strange discomfort and feeling in my jaw but, the pain has subsided quite a bit. I suspect this is the antibiotics. If I didn't state exactly what I am taking, its called Metronidazole. I take 4 pills a day with or without...

Re: Little help please *
You won't necessarily need a crown after a root canal. Although root canals are popularly construed as painful torture, in my experience they are fairly boring experiences. You won't feel pain, just have to sit there with your mouth open for what will seem to be an endless amount of time. There rea...

Re: Little help please *
Update: So, in a week or teens days, I am having my first ever root canal therapy done. I am terrified. Its $800.00 minus whatever deal they make for me that I was not planning on spending. I have a little student debt. I was hoping to have that clear before braces but, I am feeling like this is a n...

Re: Little help please *
Wow, sorry to hear that. Hopefully you can make progress with that root canal -- I have had several over my many years -- and the decrease in pain and hopefully increase in your mood should be dramatic. Best of luck to you. Its really disheartening. It sucks because I had premolars removed. What th...

Re: Little help please *
So, I scheduled a appointment for one last consult with my new orthodontist. I don't know how long the timeline is for getting a root canal therapy done. I was quoted about $800.00 as the cost but, they said they will take down a few hundred given I have been with them forever and I have no insuranc...

Update: So, I missed work today which sucks because I could definitely use the money. My face is swollen, my jaw is aching, and I got nearly no sleep before I called into work today. My lymph nodes are swollen stupid. It hurts to swallow. I called around to get a dental appointment but, there is ver...

Re: Little help please *
Sounds like you are the man with a plan and congratulations for hanging in there and persevering. I'm glad the new ortho office is honoring your previous agreement and best of luck negotiating your payment schedule and method. You have a lot going on in your life so the anxiety is certainly underst...

Tooth/jaw hurts months after extraction
So, my jaw is jacked up on the side where I had a complicated extraction. It took ages. They used 3 needles before "going up stream." The work was being done and I felt pain. Months later, I am feeling TMJ or tooth issue. Now, on this same side, I had a filling done. It was done poorly or ...
