Here we go... Do others think "clear" brackets sometimes make your teeth look yellow. I know some clear brackets are almost invisible but I think some tend to make your teeth look yellow. Metal brackets can make super white teeth look whiter but many times teeth look gray... IMHO.

I would think a more toothy smile look better however the gummy part sounds like a minus. Do you have any before and after pictures?

My vote... I'd do it. I think it is bothering you and I don't think it will improve on its own.

They may not be staring to be rude. They may have a real interest in braces. I just say "yes I have braces". I might open the door to an interesting conversation. You could also say "are you considering brace for yourself"?. It might make them self consious of their smile.

Personally I go with ortho #1. Really.

You could just bring up the subject by saying your orthodontist has talked to your about retainer wear after your treatment is finish and you were curious her how long she wore a retainer. Then you could mention relapse a couple of times. She just might look in the mirror and think "jeez my tee...

I think your speech should your biggest concern. I would rather others see my braces than wonder why I'm slurring words... Just a thought.

I would highly recommend you try the Sonicare toothbrush. I have zero plaque since I switched from my maunal toothbrush. It really works for me.

Well, I just turned 50.... and I'm still seroiusly considering braces. I've been on the fence for sometime but I think I'm ready. I'm not too old. Just older than I'd like to be.
