Re: how much are metal braces cost for adults
Hi. Well I'm in the UK. I have metal braces top and bottom. I am under a cosmetic dentist. Approx 10 months treatment with retainers and wire along inside of teeth to hold them in place when removed, will cost me £3,300. Cheaper and quicker than Invisalign in my case .

Re: Underdeveloped maxilla (top arch)
Had a very narrow palate before braces (but thankfully it was mostly dental) so things have really widened out with just archwires alone. I was researching palatal expanders prior to braces and I'm glad I didn't go with that option. My top arch has widened slightly due to teeth lifting. But when yo...

Underdeveloped maxilla (top arch)
Its been suggested my top arch is narrow. Im currently half way through metal braces top and teeth and my teeth are being lifted out slightly with some teeth being turned on the top. I have triangle shaped teeth so considering veneers top 10 teeth to cover small gaps and to widen my smile. Slightly ...

Re: Metal braces, gaps, and triangle teeth !
Hi godutch .... they're pretty strong. As long as you don't use your teeth to open things and be careful. With good oral hygiene can last 20 years and don't stain. £700 per tooth I'm quoted, ie £7,0000 fitted - after a wax up and temps to see if I like them. I too prefer natural teeth but these emax...

Metal braces, gaps, and triangle teeth !
Okay 16 weeks in with metal braces top and bottom ... I'm a mature brace wearer. Should be finalised September time. Considering 10 emax veneers on top teeth. First zoom whitening top and bottom. Anyone know or considering having veneers after braces? Cost is ridiculous mind

Re: How has having braces changed your life
Hi there. I have full metal braces, female age 50. I've had them 12 weeks now and hopefully just 6 months to go. Honestly do not regret a thing, despite early discomfort etc. Self esteem not affected at all. Embrace them. You're making a change, something positive for you. I smile as usual, never st...

Re: Confess your orthodontic sins.
Wow we are all naughty people !!
12 weeks in with metal braces. You name it; I've eaten it. Chocolate Brazil nuts - chopped up, crisps and I even had a go at a hard toffee (do not do this) - I paid the price . No brackets broken, hygienist says my oral health is good though !!

Re: metal braces - views re composite bonding when removed
That's a good point - cost. Porcelain veneers are £700 per tooth and they will need renewing at some point. I am happy to have straight teeth but not too gappy teeth (as gaps were not what I started with. I do fancy having them whitened when finished too. I best get saving up now ! Interesting to kn...

metal braces - views re composite bonding when removed
Hi everyone. I'm Tracey and 11 weeks in to treatment with full metal braces. I'm let's say a 'mature' brace wearer. I have triangle shape teeth (especially my top two front teeth). I know I'm jumping the gun but has anyone any views on veneers or composite bonding re covering black triangles when th...

Re: Nervous about IPR anyone had it done?
I'm 11 weeks in with full metal braces. Had IPR on 2 of my visits to reduce the 'black triangle' slight gaps. My 2 front teeth are triangle shape. No discomfort with having it done and it's minimal. Had it done to quite a few teeth to give slight extra movement. It's not noticeable but my teeth sooo...

Re: Feeling Mislead
That's a shame. We get a fixed idea in our mind and it's disappointing when something else is carried out. But I initially wanted Invisalign or ceramic braces. I'm now 11 weeks in with full traditional metal braces (female age 50). Opted for these are quicker and strong brackets. So far none have po...

Re: Ortho says he can't fix black triangleshi twangsnap
Hi twangsnap. Before my treatment I was told due to quite large bell shaped teeth and my age I would end up with a black triangle (particularly one side)... he said he would use IPR to reduce this but there would still be limitations. I'm 11 weeks in and already love the alignment line yourself but ...

Re: Ortho says he can't fix black triangles
Hi have you been given a rough idea as to how long you will need braces on for? I ask as mine is approx 10 months as turning a few teeth top and straightening couple st bottom. Maybe if your treatment will be say 24 months, the IPR may start later? I'm no expert mind. I know the teeth do tend to loo...

Re: Brown stains around brackets
I have metal braces and the light reflects differently with all the metal. I have slight staining and I'm having a deep cleanse on Monday (brackets been on for 9 weeks). Tea and coffee to tend to stain all teeth with braces or not. I use a non-alcohol fluoride mouth wash. I have heard some can disco...

Re: Newbie here
Hi there. I'm a female age 50 with full metal braces - 9 weeks in. To be honest the first month was quite sore. Mainly inside the cheeks and lips. I advise wax. On the wires, any parts of the brace that rub. Keep replacing it. The skin in the mouth will adjust and it does get easier. . Just hang in ...
