Re: Second Braces Journey at 25
So, last Friday I had my retainer check up. They signed me off for night time use only after 3 months of full time wear. I started wearing my retainer at night only, but leaving it out for that long means that it's really tight when I put it in when I go to bed  My teeth are obviously unstabl...

Re: Second Braces Journey at 25
It was never going to be a completely smooth journey was it? I went in for my essix retainer earlier and it didn't fit. :-+ Looks like they didn't account for the fixed retainer properly on the left side. They took new impressions (more putty, lovely) and I have to go back in on Wednesday to pick th...

Re: Best way to clean a clear retainer - hints and tips please!
I've had a lower retainer all through my braces treatment to wear at night, and I find that using retainer brite twice a week then brushing them with water and a soft toothbrush works fine. I was told to never use mouthwash or toothpaste, as that could scratch them.

Yeah, I overdid it on the wax. On the bright side, no excuse for any plaque on your teeth!

Re: First Time Braces at 28
Welcome to the forum! I personally didn't get on with the interdental brushes for flossing. I prefer superfloss and my waterpik (best buy ever!). I'll probably get a sonicare in a few months as my current Oral B is getting a bit geriatric on the battery life.

Re: Second Braces Journey at 25
Last photo update before I get this thing off. Gaps are now completely closed, posterior bite is feeling good. Anterior bite is massively improved but obviously not perfect due to not getting the bottoms fixed. I have definitely noticed a change in the way I eat. I used to use my tongue and my upper...

Re: My Second Braces Journey @ 24
I'm surprised they've estimated that long! Your teeth look really well aligned so hopefully they'll go into the bite fixing really quickly. Kudos on the retainer wear, it's definitely been worth it. I imagine that if you've been really good with retainers you'll do well with elastics

Re: Finally in Braces.
I kinda feel like a kid again getting up every morning and looking to see if there was any progress overnight  I'm still like that now! I'm just waiting for one gap to close so every night I floss and see how difficult it is to get the floss in there. At least it's motivating me to floss. :rol...

Re: 30+ Years. Finally!
Regarding the wax, I say just use it if you feel you need to. The whole 'cheeks toughening up thing' is a bit of a con if you consider your teeth will just move and the bracket will irritate a fresh bit of cheek. One thing i've found helpful with avoiding the sores is just staying really hydrated, t...
