Re: Time in braces before surgery
I only had Invisalign and it was for 11 months before double jaw surgery. I'm 5 weeks post op and my surgeon put in a wire around my teeth and tads in my gums for rubberbands. I think w wire and tads come out in 3 weeks.

Re: How long after surgery was it until you liked your new face?
I am almost 5 weeks post op. I'd say I was happy with my face around 2 weeks post op. By happy I mean I was fine going out in public and being seen. I still had and still do have considerable swelling along my jaw line. My smile is still stuff and weird because of the swelling. I can see my profile ...

Re: Difficulty chewing due to teeth numbness (couple weeks post op)
I wouldn't try and chew yet. I am four weeks post op and dr said only soft foods that don't need chewing that I can mash with tongue and swallow. My teeth are also still very numb and there is no way I could chew right now even if dr told me I could.

I needed both jaws done to get the correct result but it took a long time to get there. If your surgeon is not s...

Re: Nose Changes, moving upper jaw up?
My upper jaw was impacted 3 mm and advanced 3 mm and I was surprised how much my nose changed with such small movements. The tip of my nose turns up a bit now and overall my nose looks quite a bit smaller. I've been pleased with the changes at 4 weeks post op but I was also surprised as my surgeon s...

Re: January - March 2017 Surgery Buddies
I had double jaw surgery on January 17th (4 weeks postop today)! I just found this board and am glad I did! I had an overbite that was greatly reduced by Invisalign for the past year leading up to surgery. My upper jaw was impacted by 3 mm and advanced as well by 3 mm and my lower jaw was moved forw...
