Tops debanded - with PICS!!

After a long absence from this board, I have had my top braces taken off and wanted to keep everyone posted! I had them take the tops off early, as I will be spending several months abroad for an internship and didn't want to have braces in all my pictures! Here's some pics of the progress, beginnin...

This post has pics of my extractions: http://www.archwired.com/phpbb2/viewtopic.php?t=9285&highlight= It aint pretty. I need to post update pics, since now, my teeth are looking VERY different than they were at this point. It's not as bad as it seems. It's hard to eat and drink for a few days, b...

Thanks so much for the idea, rsprouse. I wonder... Well, I spoke to my ortho and two other orthos in the UCLA clinic, and they said that while they'd heard of that happening from oral surgery, they hadn't heard of it happening from braces alone. They had me take another x-ray, which I did, and I hav...

Spacers were the WORST!!!! For the person who said it didn't hurt much - perhaps your teeth were not that crowded when it was put in? I think mine hurt so badly because they were SO jammed together, there was nowhere for the teeth to go. Plus, after the teeth did move, the spacers irritated my gums ...

Called the ortho, she says she hasn't heard of that happening, except in cases of oral surgery. She thinks the roots of my teeth could be pulling on a nerve or something... great!

Anyway, I'll go in on Monday to see why this is happening.

Thanks for your responses, everyone. Yeah, I will call my ortho tomorrow. It just happens to be midterm week, and I'm going out of my mind busy, so I've been ignoring it, which is SO bad of me. I don't see any swelling. And it's not entirely numb, just like when a novacaine shot is still wearing off...

Another thing I find particularly atrocious on those shows is that they give ALL the women these HUGE breast implants. It's SO sexist and gross, and it doesn't even look good. AND, they give all the "ethnic" women nose jobs, because it's not OK to look non-white! Plus, for time reasons, th...

Random numbness in my lip/chin - has this happened to you?

I don't quite know how to describe it, but the left side of my chin and lip area is a little bit numb for no apparent reason. It started a couple of days ago, a few days after my last adjustment. Also, when I open my mouth wide, that same area gets tingly, like a limb that's waking up after falling ...

Well, maybe people will think the orange-y ligs are festive. You know, sometimes it's kind of liberating to have stained ligs - once they're stained, you feel so free to eat whatever you want and you don't rush to the mirror to see if something stained your teeth! But then you smile for a photo, not...

I was also afraid of having my teeth be whiter around the brackets if I used whitening toothpaste, but I also didn't want them to be darker around the bracket. My solution? I use whitening toothpaste at night only, and regular toothpaste the rest of the time. That way, I think I'll just get them to ...

I definitely DID hide my smile - in my senior portraits for my high school year book, I didn't feel that I could smile, and I really hate those photos. AND, I've had people notice my bad teeth. Three examples: 1. A boss of mine, when I smiled at her, said, "Ugh, aren't you going to do something...

Wow - that sounds like a rough situation. It seems to me like the best outcome would be to use implants, to have the right look.... can't he make room for implants with springs or something? Could he shave a little off of the surrounding teeth and add smaller-than-usual implants? I think, though, th...
