Did the ortho say that you had gum recession or that you should see a periodontist about gum recession? One ortho that i had a consult with told me that I needed to see a periodontist first. But he also said that he requires all patients over age 20 to see a periodontist to identify any gum recessio...

You're teeth are looking beautiful, but I noticed one of your front teeth doesnt appear even on the bottom. One of my front teeth does the same exact thing. I'm curious if you had any plans for correcting it or if your ortho has said anything about it. Basically, I'm wondering if there is anything t...

I had TMJ symptoms when I was starting treatment. My jaw would click whenever I opened it wide and would be sore in the morning. Two months into treatment all symptoms were gone!

Molar Bite

I had the bottom 1st bicuspids and the top 2nd bicuspids extracted. He chose the 2nd bicuspids on the top because he said he thought I would need them. I'm concerned now though because the sizes of the remaining bicuspids are very different between the top and bottom. How will the bicuspids be able ...

Unrealistic Expectations

I was just wondering if anyone has completed their treatement or are closed to be completed and are disappointed. Do many of us have unrealistic expectations? After reading all of the things "gone bad" for people it seems it may be a common ocurrence.

Fiberotomy

My ortho has recommended to have the fibers in the bottom teeth severed to help prevent relapse (fiberotomy i think) along with the permanant retainer. I'd be interested in knowing if the doctors would recommend it also and how succesful this procedure is compared to going with only the permanant re...

I just had 4 extractions last week at an oral surgeon. Don't be nervous, i never felt a thing during or in the days after. Everything cost $810 but insurance covered everything. They were simple extractions. It probably depends a lot on where you live.

TPA/Expander

I've had my braces for about 2 weeks now and I'm really hating this TPA/expander thing. It's like I've had to learn to eat all over again. It's so embarassing to try to eat with it in front of people. The ortho said it was to help move the other molars. I assumed at the time that everyone had to cop...

I wouldn't be surprised if he went ahead and put the brackets on even if your uppers go completely over them. Just be prepared not to be able to close your mouth for about 2 weeks.

Extraction

I just had 4 of the bicuspid teeth extracted over the weekend. Now I look in the mirror and panic. My top teeth weren't that crowded to begin with and now i have two gaping holes. i'm worried i wont have enough teeth to move into those positions. Has anyone else experienced this extraction anxiety?
