Re: double jaw surgery ruined my face?
Sorry it’s been awhile. Our neighbors above us had a small fire which turned on the sprinklers and our condo is a complete water damaged mess. I have come to terms with my face. I cannot undo it. I have bigger fish to fry.... I just found out my jaw didn’t fuse on one side. Surgery again! I have had...

Re: double jaw surgery ruined my face?
Hi- been reading this thread all morning. I can totally relate. I had palate expansion and bsso. Worst mistake of my life. It’s been one year of constant complications and pain. I have Permenant nerve damage which manifests as over sensitivity. I have to take medication for nerve pain. The palate ex...

Re: Post surgery panick
I know this is old and you have probably "graduated" from this forum but I'm curious how things ended up. I also have this experience, currently on pain reliever gabapentin. My surgeon was surprised as well. I'm scared. Hope you are feeling better.

Re: 1.5 years post-op and devastated after last visit to surgeon
My numbness is very intense like fire ants on my chin. My surgeon has never had this happen before and I have been put on gabapentin possibly for the rest of my life to deal with the painful "numbness" it makes me so tired and really only takes the edge off. This sucks

Re: Infection again, I'm really scared
Hi- thank you so much for replying. My surgeon was out of town so I took the chance to see his partner for a second opinion on my growing "bump". He said it was a granuloma and it's coming from the screws. He suggests getting them removed. He was very blunt. My regular surgeon suggested he...

Re: Got my surgery
Hi- are you still burning? I am, especially at night. You are the only other person I've heard that had bad burning sensations. Sometimes when it's really bad I'll take something to help me sleep and go to bed early to avoid it. Sometimes I think I'm getting sensation back. It it's like feeling pres...

Re: SARPE Relapse
Hi- that does seem early. I've had my rpe in for 7 months. 5 months past last turn. If you're concerned ask your orthodontist right away. It may not be too late to turn again. It's hard sometimes to ask questions, I get intimidated sometimes but you'll always wonder if you don't ask. I'm going to as...

Re: emotional anguish over TMJ splint therapy/braces/surgery. here's advice for YOU
I'm so sorry. I feel the same way. I've had so many complications I would bore you to tears if I listed them all. I could have lived with what I had forever and maybe had to get some crowns later. At 42 with this surgery my bite is open everywhere and balancing on my premolars. I will need all poste...

Re: Discolouring
Hi- yes that is normal most of the time. Light staining did to coffee, tea, or red wine can do this. Also some mouthwashes can stain teeth. Watch for white discoloration which could indicate decalcification (starting of decay). This happens if you don't brush well especially at the gumlime and if yo...

Infection again, I'm really scared
I was given antibiotics post surgery 2 rounds to prevent infection (not sure why two) but developed a small infection anyway. Two iv's, opening site and cleaning, placing a drain and a round of clindamycin. My infection is back and I'm on another round of clindamycin. He keeps saying it's a small in...

Re: Got my surgery
That's good. I am less than 3 weeks out of bsso. I think we are both ahead of the curve with getting our sensation back. I think that's a good thing. I had Sarpe that went off without a hitch but I still have a numb patch. My bsso has not been as successful as I had the surgery redone days after the...
