I always flick my elastics away into the air when I take them off before a meal.

It took about 3 days before my first elastics stopped acheing. In the subsequent adjustments, the pain went away in a day.

I've had only one incident of my ceramic bracket coming off. And the elastic attached to that was very strong, so my ortho wasn't too surprised. I called in for an emergency appointment, and it fixed the same day.

Hang in there! You'll get used to in a week, and you won't even feel it after that.....until that next adjustment that is. :)

Just because it's not hurting doesn't mean it's not working!
Trust your orthodontist, but definitely ask him about it. He'll be happy to explain it to you.

Just keep the rubber bands on as long as you can. Then the pain will subside in a few days.
idk how but if you keep taking them off for extended periods of times, then the pain stays.

Nah, I've worn 4 at a time too. Your orthodontist knows best. Trust him and follow his instructions.
