Two months post op DJS and genioplasty
Hi guys, I've just passed the two month milestone for my double jaw surgery and genioplasty. I had my upper jaw moved up 4mm, lower jaw moved forward 8mm and a 4mm genioplasty to correct my overbite. Recovery has gone really - I just have a bit more swelling to go down around my upper lip and I do h...

Re: Wired shut and worried about relapse. So nervous that I picked the wrong doctor!
My surgeon appointments post op were 1 week, 2 week and 4 week. The 4 week one was the best because he told me I could move to a soft chew diet and said at 6 weeks I can eat whatever I want
My next appointment is at the 8 week mark.
Hope you're recovering well!!

Re: Wired shut and worried about relapse. So nervous that I picked the wrong doctor!
I've just gone 4 weeks post op so I know what you mean re having too much time on your hands - Google has a lot to answer for ;-) I'm actually really glad to be going back to work tomorrow so I can get back into my routine and stop obsessing about which parts of my face are/aren't numb! Not sure if ...

Hi Jason,
Dr Ricky Kumar from Smile Solutions did my DJS. I'm one week post op and happy with the results.
Do you know who you're going with?

FEB/MARCH 2018 JAW BUDDIES
Hello! I've just had my DJS confirmed for 10 March in Melbourne, Australia. Eeeeeeeek! Super excited and anxious. In Feb 2017 I had SARPE and then braces followed in March so all in all it's been a pretty quick process. In a couple of weeks I'm going for my "work up" appoint and scan to ge...

Re: SARPE - how much did your teeth move?
I've had my braces on for almost 48 hours and my front two teeth have almost completely moved so they are not overlapped anymore (see pic in first post pre brace). This seems really quick to me - on top of how quick the gap was to close up - so I did a bit of research. I was diagnosed with osteoporo...

Re: SARPE gap not closing
My gap closed by itself before my braces were put on. My last turn was on the 28 May and today (24 April) I got my braces. So over the 4 weeks between stopping turn and getting braces the gap completely closed until my front two teeth overlapped like this - http://imgur.com/a/RgcSs I think this is u...

Re: SARPE - how much did your teeth move?
It definitely does seem to be different for everyone. This whole jaw widening and aligning process is quite incredible really. Braces are booked in on Monday. It'll be interesting to see what my ortho thinks of the overlap because last time he saw me was when I had a decent gap and he told me to sto...

SARPE - how much did your teeth move?
Hi all, I had SARPE surgery back on 16 February. Over about 3 weeks I did 39 turns of the expansion plate and then stopped. This is a short timelapse videos of the gap opening up - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4IvOHPHlE1o I went for a checkup with my surgeon a week or so ago (so about 7 weeks pos...

Re: Jaw surgery & hospital costs in Melbourne, Australia
I'm in Melbourne and have just had SARPE surgery done but have quotes for braces and double jaw surgery too. With private health insurance I'll be out of pocket about $25k. SARPE surgeon fees - $3500 SARPE hospital and anaethetist fee - $3500 (I hadn't served the health insurance waiting period for ...

Re: January - March 2017 Surgery Buddies
Hi everyone, I'm 32 years old and I had my SARPE surgery done on the 16th February. I have to do 35 turns total (I'm up to about 31) and then leave in the plate for a while, then get the braces on while the plate is still in, and then after about a month or so get the plate out. I cannot wait to get...

How many times to turn expander plate?
Hi everyone, I'm 32 years old and I've decided to go ahead with orthognathic surgery as I have a severe overbite. I've had braces on twice as a teenager but because I have a narrow overcrowded jaw and significant overbite this is what needs to be done to get the perfect bite. So I've done part one -...
