I wouldn't have thought wearing your retainer for longer would do any harm. I think problems occur if you wear them less than recommended. I have permanent retainers and only wear my removable one overnight.

I guess it depends what kind of removable retainer you have. I have hawley retainers both top and bottom and permanent retainers. The hawley retainers have extra space built in for my permanent retainers so I am not sure if they would hold my teeth firmly in place enough.

There may be a procedure to follow. Maybe you need to submit a written request? Surely under data protection, you are entitled to your own records??

Thank you for your replies. I have now been to see my orthodontist and he says that there is nothing more he can do unless i want 2 of my top teeth taken out! I'm the same. I am paying for my treatment and my orthodontist keeps saying that he is in the finishing stages but I have been left with an overjet similar to yours.
