If your worried about protein, I would suggest either tofu or fish. Or, you can try one of those protein shakes that bodybuilders use.

Anyone know how this 6 month method differs from regular braces? I can't find anything on their website except "latest technology" and "time tested orthodontics." I'm curious what makes it faster.

I mix frozen berries, fresh bannanas, fresh mangos, various flavors of sorbet, and tofu in my smoothies. I havn't seen soy protein, so I just substituted tofu in. They are good, but not all that filling.

After a day of being on a cold-foods only diet, I was able to start eating some softer foods. I went out to an all you can eat sushi place and pigged out for an hour. At first, I thought I might have a hard time, but eating the sushi was actually very easy to do. Definatly reccomended when you are s...

Surgery for the bottom was today, and the doctor did a little bit more on the top as well. Sadly, nobody woke me up to take my pain killers after four hours, so I'm hurting a little now. Taking the medication before I hurt was much more effective then taking it after it started to hurt. I did manage...

I was told to not brush or floss after I had a procedure...but I did get a prescrption for a mouthwash known as peridex. It's been bothering me a bit lately, as I am worried about my teeth getting messed up. However, the ortho/perio took a look at them today, and said it was fine. In fact, I was eve...

I had my first adjustment today. I found out that they currently have a very thick wire on my teeth, so it doesn't seem like they are at all afraid of moving my teeth too quickly. The odd thing is that I have almost no pain - only one tooth is really sensitive, and it seems to be more to cold then a...

How exactly did you get your arch windended. Was it the spacers that did it? Springs? Elastics, maybe?

Don't even consider the ceramics! Your at a good age now, when a lot of people have braces. Having braces that are metal is really normal, so it won't affect your social life at all. From what I see, 13-14 is a really common time for people to get their braces on. I reccomend that you, instead, beco...

My ortho claims that people who get extractions, rather then have their arches widened, may have thinning lips from lack of support. He uses himself as an example, saying that when he was a child he had braces with extractions, and that is why his lips are so thin. I havn't confirmed this though...t...

Ahh, glad to see another high school student who decided to go through the whole braces thing late. As for senior pictures...don't be too worried about that. I've found that its pretty normal for people to have braces at this age, so nobody really notices. I haven't even had mine on for a week yet, ...

As for why you didn't get teeth extracted, its either because your ortho didn't think you needed the extra room (any crowding in your teeth?) or she/he is trying to widen the arches instead of extracting teeth.

Yesterday was surgery day for the top half of my teeth. They also put the braces on, right before surgery. I was on some strong sedatives, and when I got there, they numbed me with a substantial amount of novocaine. I felt practically nothing throughout the entire surgery. Afterwords, they gave me s...
