Sore lip after BSSO
2.5 weeks after BSSO I'm still experiencing a really sore, dry lower lip that feels like it's really swollen (although it's not especially noticeable to look at admittedly). Did anyone else experience this? If so, what if anything gave you relief and how long did it take to go away? I've tried a cou...

Re: Healing fast!
I also had my surgery on may 3rd and also felt surprisingly good in the week or so after surgery....nearly a fortnight later the real misery is hitting  think it's a mix of the feeling starting to come back into my lower lip and chin (the worst part is feeling just how much the brace hooks ha...

Re: Feeling defeated and discouraged
Thanks for asking, it's going ok! the only downside is both my partner and mum chose this week to go away on trips....talk about timing!!! I've actually been pretty good on the pain and misery front - my orthodontist really prepared me for the worst so apart from a couple of wobbles I've been pretty...

Re: Feeling defeated and discouraged
I feel your pain - my braces went on September 2013 and although I was lucky enough to be getting my surgery on the NHS, it's been such a long wait (I was ready for surgery by late 2015 and yet only had my op a couple of days ago) that I was very much ready for throwing in the towel on more than one...

Re: U.K. Cost of jaw surgery
I was lucky enough to get my treatment through the NHS as it was seen as a functional deformity as opposed to a purely cosmetic case, however it took a LONG time (I'd say it's probably been at least 5 years since I was first seen and I only just had my surgery a couple of days ago). I did however vi...

My braces went on 3rd September 2013, and I had my surgery on 3rd May 2017....it could be worse!!
I literally have friends and colleagues who have never known me without braces!!

Day 3 Post Surgery
Hello all, new to the forum so hope you don't mind me sharing my story! After 3.5 years (!) in braces I finally had my surgery this Wednesday. Original plan way back was for bimax + genioplasty, which was reduced to BSSO for mandibular advancement +/- genio (to be decided intraoperatively as they fe...
