My first piece of advice would be to prioritize advice from anonymous strangers on the internet (myself included) below that of flesh and blood professionals in your home town when weighing matters costing thousands of dollars. At a bare minimum, I would talk to at least one orthodontist in addition...

Eric, 1. Did your ortho tell you that metal braces might be needed at the end of the Invisalign treatment? Or did it just come to that since your teeth weren't cooperating? There was never anything said about metal braces. He mentioned at the beginning that refinements are often needed, but that we ...

Oh, and Tinseltown, I totally agree with you. Even with wires, brackets, rubber bands and the kitchen sink in my mouth, there are still a couple of teeth that are proving to be a real pain to get moved. To look at my teeth when I started, you would have thought that Invisalign should have handled th...

OK. Last week, I found an invisalign success story in the flesh. A guy I work with is just finishing up his treatment, and is totally happy with his results. In addition, I see this guy all the time, and I had no idea he was wearing the trays. Of note, the problem he wanted to correct was very minim...

You'll know if the things start getting behind on you. Either you'll be able to see gaps where they aren't covering your teeth fully (my first molding) or you'll be able to push down in the back and the front will pop up (my second molding). I'm sure there are many variations on the theme, but my th...

Hmm, I'm beginning to think that no one has a fully satisfactory experience with Invisalign. Including myself, I personally know of 4 people who finished unhappy. Looks like more of the same here.

I'm now into my third year in orthodontics when I had pretty decent teeth to start with.

Angel, I'm afraid I have to disagree with your premise. People choose Invisalign (and the added cost) specifically to avoid the hassle and the aesthetics associated with traditional braces. I would be willing to bet that it's a negligibly small percentage of Invisalign consumers who buy into the pro...

It's true that invisalign can't handle a variety of different orthodontic problems. For instance, I knew going in that it wouldn't be able to rotate a bicuspid that needed to pivot about 90 degrees. It didn't affect my bite as it was, and it made no difference cosmetically, so I went with it. Everyt...

A second for nuts. Not only are the good at hiding, they tend to have semi-sharp corners that dig into your gums.

I had invisalign for over a year and a half. The product worked great for the things that I cared about when I first paid for them: 1)they were, for the most part, invisible to the casual observer 2)they had hardly any effect on brushing and flossing except that I wound up doing a LOT more than befo...

nvrsaynvr, how are your aligners fitting these days? Our original thread met an untimely end for some reason.

I used an emory board to take the edges off the trays in the places that irritated me. Anytime you put something foreign in your mouth, there's going to be an adjustment period, but you'll be surprised at how fast you adapt. The same applies for eating. Initially, it's a pain because you're not prof...

Invisalign Start to Finish

I'm curious how many people actually make it all the way through a course of treatment with invisalign with no "real braces" refinement. My original plan for invisalign was 30 top and 15 bottom trays with the bottom trays starting with the 16th top. I changed them out every two weeks and w...
