Re: How do I know if my potential orthodontist is good / bad?
Hey there, I'm in London and I've had a look at who my Ortho is registered with/won to help you search if they have any public registers: British Orthodontic Society Gold Medal Clinical Excellence Award for Orthodontic Specialist Training GDC registered specialist Member of the Royal College of Surg...

Re: When did your ortho activate your impacted canine after exposure?
Mine started pulling on my tooth 3 weeks after the surgery, all he waited was to make sure the stitches were healed.
It could be that the gap for the tooth isn't wide enough yet for the tooth to get down?

Re: Impacted canine at 19
Did he mean the impacted canine had to be removed or the baby tooth removed so that the canine can come down?
I'm 25 and I had my impacted canine surgery last year and it has successfully come down.

Re: Electric vs Manual brishes
I've always used an electric toothbrush on my braces (other than the times that I've forgotten it or it runs out of charge. I recently went to the hygienist who recommended using electric toothbrushes. Don't worry about it getting caught in the brackets. It brushes over them and it doesn't get caugh...

Re: Rude things people have said to you
I've not had any bad comments said to me. The only thing that really bugs me is when you're talking to someone about braces and they said "I've never thought there was anything wrong with you teeth". I'm yet to work out how to reply politely that I didn't get my braces because of how they ...

Re: Teeth Not Moving!! Comfort in Making Suggestions to Ortho?
Hi! I also have braces because of spacing. When I got my braces my ortho said that those who have issues with overcrowding see the difference with braces early on while those of us with spacing have to wait until the end of the treatment to see our difference. He said the priority is to deal with al...

Re: IMPACTED CANINES CLUB
So my impacted canine has been progressing really well. At my last appointment the ortho attaches a bracket to help pull its down more and then today they attached buttons on both side on my tooth. Each button is attached to a power chain to help spin it as it’s currently rotated 90 degrees. However...

Re: Powerchains
If you want to try and put it back on you can use dental floss to open the loops enough to put it back over the brackets. (I've only ever had the end of a powerchain unhook and I use three strands of floss, loop them in and pull them so it opens the section of the powerchain enough to hook around a ...

Hello there wisdom tooth
I've had my braces on for 11 months. My lower left wisdom tooth came through when I was 18 (7 years ago) and no other decided through. When I got my braces I knew my wisdom teeth were not impacted and were close to coming through and today I felt that my upper left wisdom tooth has broken through my...

Re: IMPACTED CANINES CLUB
So I got my baby tooth taken out and the canine exposure on 18 January (so pretty much exactly 3 months ago). My ortho waited 3 weeks to do anything so that my stitches were removed and then I've been doing all my wishing to move the tooth. My tooth has come through and I can now see the chain butto...

Re: IMPACTED CANINES CLUB
7 weeks post canine exposure Got my adult tooth ripped out yesterday to make room for the orthodontics to activate the canine next weekend! In anyone’s experience, did it hurt when they started pulling on it? The site is completely healed and doesn’t hurt what so ever I got the chain attached to my...

Yeah definitely. If you can do it there's no point waiting to go to your orthodontist. I told mine that my spacers had come out and I'd put them back in and they were impressed

Re: Just noticed archwire marks - is it possible to stain or chip wires?
I have these marks as well! I have thought that the ortho might've put them there so they know where the middle of the arch is when it's being put in the brackets?
