Re: Decision time- Invisalign or Lingual
I was considering Invisalign and regular braces. The two people I know who tried Invisalign were unhappy with their results and got regular wires after their Invisalign treatment. In other words it was a waste. I know there were certain movements I wanted my teeth to make that I would not have been ...

Re: midline correction!
I got a lot of correction with just braces, but two months ago I had to start wearing a rubber band on the opposite side of my crossbite. The midline is now straight.

Re: Dentures or Implants ?
You should get the implants. They are the most advanced technology. They won't touch your other teeth. Just put a screw and crown for the missing tooth. I have had two (premolars) for 25 years without any problems except the crowns are now discolored so I am going to get them replaced. The implants ...

Re: dental implant advice ?
You should get an implant if any of your teeth don't have a match either upper or lower. I had a lower tooth pulled and then years later they had to pull the upper tooth because it was falling down-it had nothing to stop it. I wish I had gotten an implant for the bottom tooth at the time, but no one...

Re: Adult Palate Expansion - MARPE vs DNA Appliance vs ?
I did some internet research on this and came to the conclusion that you cannot really expand the arch as an adult without surgery. This is because the palate has already closed and mostly you will just tip the teeth outward with an expander. I had a posterior crossbite and an anterior one (I guess ...

Re: 6 months smiles braces and I'm not seeing progress? (6 weeks in)
I did some research on six month braces and learned they are mostly a cosmetic fix-you won't get any movement to correct bite. Also sometimes to make room they actually file the sides of your teeth. I also found that the dentist marketing these braces was less than upfront about all that. He just wa...

Yes get your records. They are yours. You can ask another ortho what standard practice is if you are unsure.

Re: Consultation Scheduled!
I just want to encourage you to consider the ortho's advice carefully. Braces aren't for just cosmetic purposes. If your teeth are misaligned, your bite will be off and the teeth may continue to move. This can cause further issues down the line. Getting a great smile is just a nice benefit to fixing...

Re: Bummed about surgery results
I think you look very different after your jaw surgery-if I'm understanding the order of the pictures. Your mouth looks great and you will have a beautiful smile. You do have a long chin, but it doesn't look bad. It just seems so drastic to shave it off. I think you should at least wait until you ar...

Re: Palatal expander 2nd attempt as an adult
I was told palate expanders do not work on adults. Were you warned it may not work or did they treat you as they do younger patients?
