Braces off!!
OK...so my braces are off now...yay!! I had traditional metal braces for almost 2 years and had them removed on 10/23. Glad that it is over...but now I have a couple of concerns. I seem to bite down more fully (more contact between my upper and lower teeth) with my braces off when I chew. This has b...

genxsis, I started to experience the same type of pain a few days after I had a stronger set of chains put on my upper braces. My gums became extremely sensitive to cold and even air hitting certain areas of my gums while speaking. Other times, the intense pain appeared for no apparent reason. I wen...

Thanks to all who offered advice or shared their personal experience with this type of situation! :) As a newbie to braces, I was concerned that the swallowed bracket could have caused a problem in my digestive tract...only because of the hook on it. However, when I went to the ortho today to get a ...

Swallowed bracket
Oops...I apparently swallowed a bracket while eating my dinner. It was an end molar bracket with a hook on it. I will call my ortho first thing on Monday to get it replaced...but is there any harm in swallowing something like this??

My hygenist recommended that I get my teeth cleaned every three months instead of every six months while I have my braces on. The only downside to that is most dental insurance plans will only cover two cleanings per year. Luckily...my plan will cover the extra cleanings...so I will be getting my te...

I love my Sonicare and I wish that I had bought one years ago. They're expensive but I think that they pay for themselves many times over in the long run by keeping your teeth and gums healthier. It's an investment that I'm sure you'll be glad you made. I especially like the built-in timer. Now, I k...

I continued using my Sonicare when I got my upper braces a week ago. I was tentative at first because my mouth was sore...but the Sonicare felt sooo good on my gums...very soothing. I just put it on the lower speed for my teeth until they started to feel better. My mouth hurt until Sunday...but now ...

Bracket came unglued...
Help...newbie here. I just got upper braces on 12/20 and I noticed this evening that the bracket on my right lateral incisor has come unglued. It is just hanging there on the archwire. Has anyone else had a bracket come unglued? My ortho is closed until 12/27...do you think that it will be OK until ...

Extraction
I am 32 and this is my first experience with braces. I too am worried about my upcoming extractions of both upper first bicuspids. My front upper teeth are not really crowded, but one of my central incisors is turned slightly inward. I am a Class II with an overjet and an overbite. My ortho said tha...
