hi, actually I'm at 1 1/2 years in braces and am going through the same thing!! I just got a clear powerchain on the upper all the way across and it's tearing up the inside of my mouth too and I'm also thinking about wax too! Try ambesol--that's a great numbing tool!

I agree-I love my metal! actually my orth recommended the metal over the ceramice...he said metal work better and they're less expensive. I was amazed that he said this because ceramice are more $$. woohoo! I think the size of the metal brackets are alot smaller than the ceramic ones!!

hi! if the swelling gets worse & gets more puffy/inflamed...definitely go see your orth...I've had a few infections in my mouth and they've started with a small swelling. Pretty much food gets caught between the bands and gets inflamed...I brush all of the time too. My orth relieved the swelling...

jaws your teeth look awesome! It's funny that I actually have the same expander on as your lower expander! Top one's totally different-I'd totally trade it for that one!

how the bleep do you guys eat with this thing on? Food always get stuck between the expander and the roof of my mouth. you'll get used to it-it takes time though.
