for me it's been an uphill battle with these torture devices! I currently have an upper RPE and a lower expander---I am fed up with dealing with this in my mouth-especially since it's been 1 1/2 years and counting and have no idea if they'll ever come off. I'm with heybartender-hate dealing with thi...

expander on 1 1/2 yrs & counting`
Hi, Has anybody had to wear their expander this long or as long as I have to? Just wondering if anybody is in my miserable club! Every post that I have read has been on for less time than mine.

4 elastics-oww!
I'm starting to feel pain from 4 elastics that I'm wearing right now...owwww! I was happy after my Mon. adjustment that it didn't feel that bad-but they take a while to "kick in". Today is the day that they're kicking in full-force. Any suggestions on how to keep less oww in my day? I've b...

I totally smile more! I used to have this habit of covering my mouth everytime I smiled or laughed. I was so self conscious of it-someone actually pointed out to me that I have braces now and don't have to cover up my mouth anymore-that I should be proud of it. Also I have to showoff how much I'm pa...

elastics popping off
Hi doc, just wanted to let you know I got an answer to this from my orth-he said they do pop off at night & that's normal. He joked & said as long as they don't pop off and fly at someone then I'm good to go. lol!

elastics popping off at night while sleeping
Hi Doc! I've been having my elastics pop off at night-I check them before bed to make sure they're on right and they are on right-but when I get up in the middle of the night they've popped off! I have a tricky elastic config. where I have to hook (hook looks like a butterfly) the elastic behind the...

almost there-i think
Hello everyone! I really wanted to thank everyone for their responses-which were wonderful! I just got off of the phone with the orth's assistant and she said that it would be no problem at all to come in to my next Mon. appt. and bring a list of questions. I didn't even have to setup another appoin...

expander in tomorrow
Hi Haas, welcome! I have a RPE expander in which I think is a different kind of expander than yours. I had my braces put in 1st then about a month later the X (nickname) went in. Yes, you will get a big gap in your front teeth. Depending on how much room they need-the gap might be bigger than usual....

springs
hi, I had 2 springs on the bottom for quite a while-probably 3-4 mos. or so-they didn't seem like they were doing anything-but then he took them out so they must've done their job :) I had 4 extractions and he was trying to move teeth into the space where the teeth were pulled. Pretty amazing how it...

Hello, I've had my braces on for about 1 1/2 years now and I'm at the stage where I'm pretty much fed up with this whole process! I see progress and I do see that certain things are getting easier like brushing and flossing. I'm at the elastics stage in my treatment and have no idea if that means I'...
