Nah it's really not that bad... and it's not for long anyway.
I've worn mine full time for a month and now it's just 12 hrs a day. You get used to them really quick anyway. For me the most hassle is with taking it out to eat.

What kind of retainer is it? Can you describe it?
I thought all retainers that were cemented onto teeth were just a thin wire.. which doesn't affect speech at all.
I'd be interested to know what type you have.

Why don't we turn this thread ... or maybe begin a new one ... with web address/email adresses for some of the large companies that supply the cheaper and smaller waterpik machines ... and then anyone Kiwi or Aussie can support this lobbying, by emailing and suggesting they offer this product in th...

You could probably buy a cordless/travel one on eBay or elsewhere online. Then you wouldn't have to worry about getting an adapter; just use batteries.
Yeah that's true. I did think of ebay but the whole adapter thing put me off. If it was cordless though it wouldn't be an issue.

I've only worn mine 2 - 3 times, because I have a bonded retainer as well and therefore only have to wear it once a week. I know with mine it takes a lot of work to pry it off though!!! There's not even the slightest bit of looseness. I'm not sure why yours would be so loose, but I definitely recomm...

I agree with you JumpTheDitch. I'm so jealous! I hear all these great things about waterpiks but can't get my hands on one.
Mind you, it would have definitely been the kind of thing I wanted for when I had braces - but I imagine it would still be useful now anyway.

Lol. Sorry I didn't update. Had no replies so didn't think anyone was interested!
It went really well. I love it and definitely think it was worth the money.
Makes my teeth feel so clean and the timer on it is a great way to make sure you brush each quadrant.

I have bonded on the bottom plus an essix (tru tain) retainer.
On the top I have a Hawley.
I'm meant to wear the upper fulltime, but the lower essix only needs to be worn one night a week.

I thought with mouthguards, you are meant to boil them, then take them out and quickly bite into them so that they fit into the mouth perfectly. thats whats done for sports mouthguards. Yeah - that's only the ones bought from the chemist though. If you get one proper made then you definitely don't ...

After almost 3 yrs... they're off!

Hi everyone. Well today was the day. An hr and 1/4 in the chair and they are off!!! It wasn't too bad. I thought the worst was the scraping of the glue. That almost killed me. Didn't have issues with the molar bands or anything though. They feel awesome. So nice and smooth. I must've run my tongue o...

I must agree with the blue powerchains. I used to have them on my lower teeth and they looked really good!!!
Hope the rest of your treatment goes smoothly
