I tend to think along the same lines as you. I trust what my ortho recommends 100%
I had the option of either... metal on the uppers weren't a consideration for me tho to be honest cos whilst I desperately wanted the braces I was pretty shy about them for a little while!

Personally I don't think they do.
My teeth are not real white and I think the ceramic brackets just blend in nicely.
The only time your teeth would look yellow is from the staining of your ligs or powerchains.

Hi Will.
Yeah for me it was just elastics. Not sure of the correct teeth names but basically one elastic either side going from top to bottom (to help bring my jaw forward)...
Not sure if yours will be the same but it certainly worked for me.
All the best with it

Yeah I guess these days they are liable for all sorts of things. Plus they all have referral systems and if an ortho were to see that the dentist stuffed up some of their work then they wouldn't be too keen to refer anyone to them in the future. I'm not sure if this is the real reason - just my theo...

That's pretty generous him giving you 6 ceramics free of charge.
I have ceramic on my uppers also but had to pay $500 extra for it.
If I had my time again i'd go all metal though - after the initial shyness they really aren't a big deal at all!

I've found dentists here to be quite hesitant to touch my teeth since getting braces on. I went to have a regular check-up and cleaning about 1yr ago and got told other than checking for cavities etc there was nothing else that could be done and to come bak once the braces were removed. I think it's...

Thanks for the reply Karen. I'm trying to be patient, although I think as time goes on i'm becoming less patient and real eager to be done!!! I got braces mainly because I had a large overbite... i don't know all the technical terms but my mouth looked kinda narrow at the top and my front teeth were...

I have silver powerchain on the lowers and haven't got any staining and i'm a tea and coffee addict!
I'm not sure if there are different types of silver though as mine is real metallic looking rather than a dull grey kind of colour.

Quick hello from newbie

Hi everyone, Just a quick note to introduce myself. I've been lurking round this board for a mth or so now and figured it was time to register and say hello! I'm 22 and from Sydney, Australia. I've had braces on for 2 and 1/2 yrs now and am "supposed" to get them off this coming July, alth...

Hi there, For me the main thing I notice that stains are oranges. Of course that doesn't stop me from eating them though. I never worry about staining. I have ceramic brackets with clear powerchains... I figure whilst not an attractive look when they do stain, it's not as though people can't tell it...
