Best advice I can give is just to not actually bite into anything (if possible) but to break bits off and pop them in your mouth. That way when you chew, any food that gets stuck will only be at the back where it's not visible. It still feels yuck, but at least you're the only one who knows it's the...

I've never seen floss threaders here either. Maybe try the chemist if you haven't already. I'm happy with using my regular floss (oral B essential - waxed and mint flavoured). It only takes me about 5 mins and I just floss at night.. so it seems to be working well for me. I also agree about the supe...

Yeah that's right. That makes perfect sense. It's a real shame that your teeth have moved back again, but at least there's no financial issues to worry about.
All the best with it. Keep us posted on how you go 2nd time around!

Just curious. Do you need to pay again? Or is your ortho doing this for free considering the circumstances?

Yeah pain with elastics is definitely normal. Mine lasts a week when I first get them on (I had them once - then was told to take a break from them... and now have them again) The best advice I can offer is that no matter how much your teeth hurt or your jaw aches, just keep them on! The more they s...

Thanks 2 both of you for filling me in on the whole smurfs thing. I imagine that would've been quite a sight!
I still see people walking around with the 2000 Olympics volunteers shirts on... so maybe u'll be seeing the smurf shirts for a while yet.

As far as I know it's ok. I've used an electric toothbrush for quite a while now with powerchains and haven't had any issues.

hmm.. at the risk of sounding stupid. What do you mean by the home of the Commonwealth Games smurfs?

Melbourne is one of the only parts of Australia I've never been to. It looks like a lovely place though (i'll have to make an effort to visit some time!)

What about him apologizing to me, or has everyone conveniently overlooked the fact that there was a reason I posted the email that I did.? Maybe the better question is: Can anyone recount my matter of concern with Dr. J's post? Not all the silliness that has followed, but what was my concern? Enoug...

Chewing gum and retainers

I realised the other day that since you can't eat with a Hawley retainer in then you probably can't chew gum at all, even if it's sugar free. When I was only young I had a plate (similar to a Hawley - maybe some kind of removable expander I think) and i'm sure I was allowed to eat and chew gum with ...

What strength elastics are you using? And in what configuration? I'm assuming those 2 factors would make a big difference! Mine is 3 and 1/2 ounces for one elastic and 6 for the other (just so you have something to compare to). I definitely felt the pain when I 1st got them.. after about a week it w...

My midline is almost fixed (not sure how far out it was before - my guess is about half a tooth space).
The only way it has been corrected is elastics. A stronger one on the left.. i'm assuming to pull things across.
It's worked great. Has been 6 weeks and is almost perfect.
