Re: Surgery Cancelled

I get your frustration. I was told by my surgeon's office that my surgery was approved and then the day before the surgery I get told that it's not approved. The surgeon kept me on the schedule, I even went into the hospital the day the surgery was supposed to happen to wait to see if approval was c...

Re: Having questions 2 months post op.

I'm 9 months post up from double jaw and 7.5 months from having to do a revision on my upper jaw and I can tell you it can be a long process to work the bite into place. I'm still in braces, 2 more weeks left (fingers crossed) and I'm just now starting to feel like my bite is ok finally. Don't be di...

Re: Why didn’t my mold fit?

I cant speak to the mold but I can tell you with 100% certainty the elastics have been absolutely critical to moving my bite into place. I have worn the elastics every which way possible it seems and each time I can tell just how they're moving my bite.

Re: Upper jaw loose 4 months post-op

I had to have the revision as well 6 weeks post original double jaw surgery. It really stinks BUT the recovery was so much easier for the revision. Liquid diet was really hard to go back to for another 4-6 weeks but other than that, the swelling and pain were going within a few days. My bones were s...

My Invisalign thoughts

I had Invisalign for 8 months prior to my double jaw surgery in Aug of 18, it was great to get my teeth ready prior to the surgery. Post surgery I was back to my invisalign after one week but it I had a collapse of the right upper jaw and had to go back in for a revision surgery in September. After ...

Re: Where was your bite after surgery

Been a while since I have posted an updated, I'm 6 months from original double jaw surgery and about 4.5 months from upper revision. I've been in braces since and that's testing my patience but according to my orthodontist I'm down to my last 6 weeks. Truthfully, I am more than ready for this all to...

Re: New to Invisalign, but not new to braces and COFFEE!!

I had Invisalign for about 7 months before my double jaw surgery and then switched to normal braces after due to some complications but I will say, my orthodontist wasn't concerned at all with drinking hot coffee with my invisalign. I never had an issue and I typically drink one cup every morning at...

Re: After Jaw surgery do you have to continue your orthodontic treatment?

My teeth were straight before surgery too, after the surgery, they were not straight at all anymore because of how they had to move my jaws. I had open spaces, one front tooth was a bit lower than the other and my bite was way off. I'm on week 12 of braces now and things have improved but my bite st...

Re: Double jaw surgery

I would say it took 7 or 8 weeks after the second surgery for me to notice my nose was back to a more normal position. And like I said, I still have some swelling around my nose so that may be why I still notice it's just slightly crooked yet. I am trying to stay positive and wait until I am 6 month...

Re: Double jaw surgery

I didn't experience everything you did but like you, 6 weeks after my double jaw surgery, I had to go back in and have my upper jaw corrected due to collapse. I still have some swelling 10+ weeks post op. It's not super noticeable but I definitely feel it. My nose also got VERY crooked after both su...

Re: 10 days post-op, feel like my bite is crooked + pain when swallowing

Hopefully you've seen both your orthodontist and surgeon by now but it's pretty normal for your bite to be out of whack after jaw surgery. I had double jaw surgery on 8/19 and then unfortunately I had to have the upper jaw redone in September due to partial collapse of the right side. My bite is sti...

Re: Did anyone get any say on their surgery timing?

Your orthodontist knows your bite and where it should be far more than your oral surgeon will. The surgeon's job is to move the jaws to a place where the orthodontist will then fine tune the bite again. My oral surgeon was very honest, and he is the chief of oral surgery here at the Nebraska Med Cen...

Re: Results vs Risks vs Rewards

It's definitely a major surgery that should be given a ton of thought. It's a major change to your body and how you look but I think you have to realize, many of those risks are rare but people are far more likely to post about procedures gone wrong rather than right. I'm 6 weeks post-op double jaw ...

Re: Where was your bite after surgery

Back in for surgery on Tuesday, the jaw moved too much for my orthodontist to be able to fix it before the bone would have healed over. Surgeon tells me this one won't be nearly as bad since I am only 6 weeks post op, basically has to reopen incision to upper jaw, adjust the jaw slightly and the pla...

Re: Post bsso op

I can't speak to your particular situation but my midline is well off post op as well but both my surgeon and orthodontist have sworn it will be fixed with the final invisalign sets i'll get to finish off my treatment.
