Popping pimples, 5 months post op
To preface, I get anxious that if I look at my face wrong, it's just going to fall apart. So, bear that in mind as I post this question. I've posted a similar concern before. Just looking for people who have done something similar who can tell me about their experiences. I'm 5 months and 1 week (tom...

Brushing teeth after surgery
I'm so anxious every time I have to brush my teeth... I go really slowly, and I try to be super mindful of what I'm doing, but sometimes, you're just in a rush, and brushing your teeth is like, such an automatic thing that you don't pay attention... I'm just worried that my toothbrush is going to ge...

Flossing after surgery
So today, I was flossing with that thin Glide kind of floss and one of those little plastic needle threader things and as I was threading it through my first molars, it got caught in between one of the surgical hooks and my bracket. This happened as I was pulling it through so it definitely tugged o...

Face caught in shirt last night, 10 wks post op
So, I'm sure I'm not the only one who's done this, but as I was taking my sweatshirt off last night, the upper part of my head got kind of caught in the hole as I was taking it off, so I tugged my face a bit in the process of getting it off. I'm 10 weeks post op today (Lefort I+ genio). Everything j...

Popping pimples after jaw surgery
Okay, I've read a lot about people struggling with post op acne. I've had a few little break outs, nothing terrible, but I never break out, so for me it's been frustrating. I'm 9 weeks and 5 days post op (UJS and genio), and yesterday, I just couldn't help myself, but I squeezed/pressed on a little ...

Accidentally took Aleve 3 days before surgery
I was half asleep and took an Aleve (naproxen) in the middle of the night and went back to sleep. It wasn't until I was fully awake yesterday morning that I realized what I'd done. Has anybody else made this stupid mistake, and what happened? Did you have to postpone surgery? Obviously, I'm going to...

Re: Bite is worse after surgery
Hi Karla! I got ceramic braces put on my top teeth about 2 weeks ago. I actually insisted on having them put on versus the Invisalign. I've lost all faith in those dumb things. I think the ceramic ones actually look fine! My canines are already almost back to where they were pre-surgery, which is go...

Bite is worse after surgery
Hey everybody! I am just over 3 months post op, djs (lefort 1, impaction for gummy smile, ivro + genioplasty) for a slight overbite... to be honest, I didn't have a ton of functional problems, and i was mainly concerned about my gummy smile and receded chin, the emphasis being on the gummy smile. I ...

Re: Wired shut and worried about relapse. So nervous that I picked the wrong doctor!
My surgeon appointments post op were 1 week, 2 week and 4 week. The 4 week one was the best because he told me I could move to a soft chew diet and said at 6 weeks I can eat whatever I want :) My next appointment is at the 8 week mark. Hope you're recovering well!! How has your recovery been coming...

Re: Irritated Gums
i survived the itchy gums! i just rinsed with salt water after every meal, brush gently with a baby toothbrush, and started using a water pik at about 1 week post op. I was given the green light by my surgeon, but I was told only to aim it at my teeth, so as to not accidentally disrupt any of the st...

Re: Can't tell if I'm clenching or if my jaw is just wired that tightly shut
haha i was about 5 days post op when I made this post, so I was paranoid about literally everything. I got used to the clenched teeth feeling. So far so good though, and now I'm at 9 weeks post op. At 6 weeks, my surgeon said everything looked great, and I was given the green light to go back to my ...

Anybody tightly banded shut with no splint?
I just got unwired after double jaw surgery, after being wired shut for a month with a splint, and now only have some tight rubber bands holding my bite in place. My OS removed the splint, so it's teeth on teeth contact now, and I am actually missing my splint because I hate the way this feels! So t...
