Debanded this past Wednesday with a Hawley retainer question
I have a bonded retainer on my lower - it's not glued to each tooth only on the 3's. I also have a Hawley up top. I've been told to wear the Hawley 24/7. My molars don't touch at all wearing it - just one tooth in the front. Quite painful. When I take it off to eat now by bite is off. My front teeth...

Thank you all
It was so nice to hear lots of opinions. I'll call another orthodontist tomorrow and see about getting a second opinion. It's mainly the 18 extra months that's bothering me.

Need advice about continuing with braces
Hi. I've had braces for about a year (i'm thirtyeight). My teeth were very straight to begin with, but I had a posterior open bite. Three ortho's told me it was due to late jaw growth after getting my braces off as a child. Only my front teeth were touching when chewing. I had headaches, bruxism and...

I have ceramic uppers and use a bit plate on my lower teeth at night for grinding. I can see sideways teethmarks on it, so I know I'm grinding. You'll be amazed - no more headaches. I have no idea what I'll do when I get my lower braces put on, but he said he would think of something since it's a ha...

My second time in braces
This is my second time (I'm almost 40). I had braces (4 teeth pulled) when I was 10 - 13 years old because of crowding. Well 15 years later I was having migraines and grinding my teeth. A visit to the orthodonist confirmed that my mouth and jaw grew AFTER I got my braces off. They are still perfectl...

To Granola - I don't have the bottom ones on yet, so I can't compare. BUT compared to the first time I had braces this is a peice of cake as far as pain. I like the wire ties ALOT - no staining with coffee or mustard (what I've tried so far) Also, the ICE brackets don't really glow as much as the pi...

Glow
They do kinda glow when the lights hits them!
My kids were mystified at first, but I spent some time letting them count the brackets and they seem ok with it. They also know that they have to be careful not to accidentally hit me in the face (happens alot with small kids).
Thanks for the welcome!

Newly braced - 38 yr. old mom of two preschoolers
http://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a361/KBenavides/week1a.jpg

Just wanted to introduce myself. I got my uppers put on January 5th and the lowers will go on in six months. This is my second time in braces (first time was in junior high). May of last year I got a nightguard for my bruxism/gr...
