I promise you that what you are feeling is normal and it will get better. The second day was the worst for me and then it was all uphill from there. Each day was better than the one before it. After the 1st week I felt much better then after 2 weeks it was even better.

I'm really surprised as how fast the bottom teeth are moving. I've had even more movement since April 27th. I'll wait until my next adjustment to update though. I'm just happy that they are easier to floss now. Even with the braces it's easier.

I think you should definitely discuss it with your ortho again. I don't know if that is normal or not but I would not be happy with it. I just had my 3rd adjustment yesterday. Just now I was flossing and noticed that there is a lig missing on one of my molars. I don't know if it was there and came off or if the assistant forgot to put it on. I am assuming this warrants a call to the ortho on Monday? Has this happened to anyone else ...

Do you use any kind of mouth wash that has peroxide in it such as Colgate Peroxyl? Anything with peroxide makes me lose my sense of taste. It does come back after I stop using it.

I'm glad that you are so happy with wire ties. I have them too and will never go back to clear ligs. I only had the clear ligs for 6 weeks and it really was a pain to always worry about staining them.

I recommend the silver wire ties as well. The wire is really thin and silver like the archwire so it's very discreet. I only had clear ligs the first 6 weeks and they weren't stained much but they were still more noticeable than the wire ties.
