Topic: Are wire ties just for additional movement?

At my 1st adjustment the doctor told the assistant to put a wire tie on one of my top teeth. That was to help it move more. I asked her if she could put wire ties on all the top teeth so it they would all the same and she said that was just fine too.

I have the silver wire ties and love them. I asked about the white wire times and the assistant said that the white would show up more and might still stain some. The silver wire is really thin and blends in well with the arch wire.

Welcome. Your story is great. To go from being deathly afraid of dentists to having all of that done is so brave of you. I hope you get awesome results.

My orthos office is very generic and not geared towards kids at all. There is a beautiful fish tank in the lobby. They pride themselves on not making anyone wait at all so I barely see the lobby anyway. The times I've been in there were mainly teenagers there but there was at least one other adult e...

Ooooooo, thanks for posting the picture Eve. I am now positive I want a Hawley for my top teeth if my ortho agrees to it. I'm pretty sure he will, I just haven't asked yet.

I also have never had a gap in my life but now I have a significant gap in my top teeth. There was a tooth slightly behind another and I believe the space is being created to move that tooth out. Then the ortho will straighten everything out and the space will close up again. I don't think it's anyt...

Thanks for the information. My top braces are supposed to come off in 4 months so I want to think about it before the time comes. I am supposed to get an essix for my top teeth but I think that is just because that is what my ortho gives to adults. I am going to ask for a Hawley because I think I wo...

Shelby, what else did she have to say about them and how do they look? Do you think you would like the Hawley better than the Essix based on seeing it? I don't know anyone who has either so I can't compare.

I smile really big and show almost every tooth in my mouth :) I went to an event about 3 weeks ago and for about a minute I tried not to smile so big. It was impossible for me to smile or even talk while trying to hide my braces. I went back to smiling big.

LOL, I wondered what an ocean party was :) I have yet to meet another adult with braces. If I did I would be really happy and definitely engage in a conversation with them. I am not self conscious at all about my braces. Well, it did bother me the other day when I was whistling when I talked because...

I can't answer your question but I have been wondering that myself. My midline was okay before I had braces put on and not the top is way off from where it was. My midline has shifted to the left a lot. It was the braces that moved it in the first place so I am thinking that in my case it can be fix...

I don't think you can go wrong with anything you decide. I tend to like siblings to be closer in age so I would go for it now. I think the transition for the older child seems easier the younger they are. There isn't anything wrong with waiting either. I would not factor braces in the decision at al...
