Re: Pain brushing after Braces applied.

I also had this kind of thing for a week or so when I first got my braces on - it felt reallllly painful to brush on certain teeth, and there was actually one which when I touched it with a toothbrush it made me want to be physically sick for some bizarre reason... I also had pain chewing on one too...

Re: Starting again from scratch... from ceramic to metal... yay :-(

@dubzoo I know, big pain, but thanks! Re: ceramics, they basically said that in a LOT of cases it makes very little difference whether you have ceramic/metal, but that when there’s a lot of movement to be done (like in my case) ceramic is much less effective as there’s more of a friction (that’s not...

Starting again from scratch... from ceramic to metal... yay :-(

I’m feeling a bit fed up and guess I’m just looking for a bit of support here! So I’ve got bad upper and lower crowding and an incisor in my palate that needs to be dragged outwards. I had my upper brackets fitted in March - ceramics - and should have 4 premolars removed sooner or later to make spac...

Re: Pain in one tooth when biting down - help!

Just to update you all... The tooth that was hurting just... stopped hurting... from one day to the next. So that's great! About the premolar extractions - my dentist doesn't seem to love my ortho or his methods, so the dentist has asked a colleague of his (another ortho) to jump in on my case inste...

Re: Freaking out about first extraction...

Thanks everyone. The other dentist reassured me that all was OK, although I ended up not getting extractions yet as my dentist has now decided to get my wisdom teeth out first... yay? Anyway, re: premolar extractions, I'm aware that it's not ideal, but my case is, in the words of literally every den...

Re: Pain in one tooth when biting down - help!

A little update for you all, with an unexpected twist to keep you entertained. So I went to the other dentist yesterday to get that tooth checked out. He didn't do any x-rays but tapped around and had a look at how the braces were on and told me he's pretty confident that the tooth is fine and this ...

Re: Pain in one tooth when biting down - help!

Oh I see.. I don't have bite blocks or anything so it's definitely not that :( I've just booked an appointment with another dentist the day before I'm supposed to get my first extraction hoping that he can take a good look and reassure me that everything's ok. I definitely do need extractions - I ha...

Freaking out about first extraction...

Hi all! I've had braces on for 7 weeks now, without much progress as my ortho wanted to take it slow (I'm kind of a nervous patient) and in any case no serious movement can take place until I get some extractions done - I have severe overcrowding. There's this one tooth which has been giving me grie...

Re: Pain in one tooth when biting down - help!

Thanks everyone :) Bracefacemom47 - How long did your weird feeling like this take to go away? I'm now at week 7 and it's still there, the pressure when I bite down on this one tooth. It's not like other teeth that comes and goes, it's always like that... I went to the ortho yesterday and he (frustr...

Pain in one tooth when biting down - help!

Eek ok, first post, here goes! I got my braces (fixed ceramic uppers - lowers going on at a later date) about a month ago. I’m quite nervous with dentists/orthodontists so my ortho is deliberately going slowly. He put on my brackets, with a super thin wire, without yet attaching my more troublesome ...
