Cleaning retainers

I have been using retainer brite to clean my essix retainers, but it is a pain to get hold of, so I was wondering if it would be ok to use denture cleaning tablets instead? As these are easily bought at normal chemists etc. Does anyone else do this?

I've had Damons for just over a year. In answer to your questions: 1. Yes I was told I would be much less likely to need extractions (I had quite significant crowding). I have had no extractions and will not be either, my braces will be coming off early summer. 2. I've never worn any other type of b...

I know it is down to you as an individual, and how you feel, but I got married this year (in July), and I kept my braces on even though I was the bride! Didn't even bother having the photo's airbrushed, so there are plenty of big cheesy metalmouth grins LOL (I have damons, not ceramics). Good luck i...

slidey thing on wire?

I've got new wires on my upper and lower teeth, and they are different to any of the wires I have had before - either side of the two front teeth there are these funny little tube type things that slide between the brackets of the front tooth and the one next to it, two on each wire. Anyone else got...

Second Adjustment

Had my second adjustment yesterday - doesn't time fly! My ortho was really raving about my progress, which was very encouraging :D he gave me a new wire for my upper arch, the lower archwire has stayed put for the time being, he says there is more to come from that wire. So I'm pleased things are go...

Using a lot of wax now, wasn't before?

I used a bit of wax when I first had my braces, then I had quite a long phase where I didn't need to use wax at all. Now though, and for about the last 2 weeks, the braces are rubbing in all sorts of different places. The wires seem to have poked out of the back bracket, upper and lower, on my right...

Wow, your teeth look stunning anyway! I'll have a read of your braces story now and find out why you have braces :)

The brackets on my lower teeth are really low down like that too. I wondered if it is to prevent them being hit by the upper teeth? (although I have molar build ups to)

I've got Damon 3's and I don't have any problems whatsoever with them sticking out too far, I can close my lips with no difficulty at all, in fact they just close normally at rest just like before I had braces. I have a friend who has traditional metal braces, and I must say having compared our 'met...

I had the option of paying in full and getting a 5% discount, but instead I decided to pay in three instalments. so far I've paid one third, not sure when i will have to pay the rest! Somehow I just didn't feel comfortable with paying them all the money up front. I know it isn't the same, but I had ...

No, I don't think so. On the literature from my ortho, they do standard metal braces on the NHS for people up to 18 yrs old, but ceramics etc have to be private contract.

First adjustment today!

I went for my first adjustment today :D My ortho said he is very pleased with my progress, and that my teeth are starting to unravel nicely  They took some photo's, and the ortho tweaked the wire a bit in various places and that was it! The ortho also said that I should be ready for new wi...
