Slightly OT, looking for gum graft recovery information
Hello all! I was in braces from January 2017 through June 2019, and I had a Lefort I osteotomy done May 2018. One of the side effects from my braces was the straightening out of a bottom front tooth that had previously been completely sideways. Almost immediately following it finally being straighte...

Permanent retainer a necessity?
Hello all, I have a question about retainers post-debracing. My braces were put on January 2017, and I had the Lefort 1 surgery May 2018. Over the past few appointments I've been told I'm nearing the end, and at my appointment yesterday my orthodontist said I have one more appointment of minor adjus...

Re: Lost sense of smell after double jaw surgery
Illogical did your taste ever return to normal? I’m one week post op and have had a similar taste experience with coffee. I was thinking maybe it had something to do with the bitter taste. Did you go back to normal after stopping the chlorhexadine rinse?

Can’t deal with this splint
Hi all. 1 week post 3-piece Lefort 1 maxillary advancement. I am feeling good- spent the first first sleeping a lot and icing constantly. My swelling has gone down significantly, I can breathe through my nose, and I’m only on Tylenol and Advil now. I had my first post op check up today and my surgeo...

Re: 36ish hours out front Lefort 1
He actually only prescribed the Percocet and antibiotic but I told him I wanted to avoid as much Percocet as possible so he said as long as I didn’t exceed the daily limit of Tylenol I could substitute that for the Percocet - so I’ve been either a half or whole Percocet in the morning and before bed...

Re: 36ish hours out front Lefort 1
Pierre, thanks for the reply. I was given saline spray and my husband is actually out buying a humidifier for me now. I’ve seen on some other posts that people take Sudafed- would a low dose of children’s Sudafed be okay to try? I didn’t specifically ask my doctor about it. I realized my problem wit...

Re: 36ish hours out front Lefort 1
Apparently I shouldn’t post while under the influence of Percocet since I have all these typos and can’t edit the post. The title should say “from” not “front”

Re: 36ish hours out front Lefort 1
Sorry that should say there is a “splint” on the upper teeth. Also this was a 3 piece Lefort.

36ish hours out front Lefort 1
Hi all, I posted last week I was scheduled for Lefort 1 & BSSO on 5/8. Heard from my surgeon right after that and he explained that upon doing the virtual surgical planning with the team from the hospital, they concluded the Lefort 1 would be enough to fix my open bite. So I had the surgery, and...

Re: April 18 Surgery Buddies...
Pierre, My surgeon, orthodontist, and dentist have all been working closely with me in this process and have kept me well informed on how beneficial this surgery will be not only for my open bite & TMJ symptoms but also for cosmetic purposes. They explained that since my back teeth on the top &a...

Re: April 18 Surgery Buddies...
Hello everyone, I am scheduled for surgery May 8th. Glad to see there are others out there in the same boat. I have an open bite with TMJ problems (jaw locking, clicking, pain, etc) that led me to get braces put on January 2017. For my surgery, I am having a Lefort 1 & BSSO done. I'm quite nervo...
